lumatt
The email from NVC confirming approval of my I-129F included the message below about security checks. Are these checks done both here and in GUZ? Just curious... "As part of the aftermath of the events of September 11, 2001, there are additional security check requirements for visa applicants. While it is not possible to predict when all the clearances for this case will be finished by all the involved Washington agencies, please be assured that as soon as the results are received NVC will be able to schedule this case for an interview at the US Embassy or Consulate General. Your office will be notified by mail when the interview is scheduled." Link to comment
frank1538
For the I-129F, the consensus seems to be that there are 3 checks performed. Once at USCIS (focused on the petitioner), once at NVC (focused on the applicant), and once again at the consulate (updated check focused on the applicant). ShaQuaNew appears to be the resident expert on security checks. Maybe he'll chime in. Link to comment
tywy_99
According to the U.S. Patriot Act 2001, all visa issuing post must complete a security check on the applicants. Link to comment
