Why can I only see some things in Chinese

When I look at some of the posts, the text is in Chinese Simplified Characters and I can read them okay. Others are pure gibberish. An example are the stickies. Corvette's second post (the third one listed) looks fine, the other two are gibberish.

 

What am I missing?

Merc, I think its because of differences in character encoding on this site. This is understandable since we have deifferent people posting in Chinese from different computers. I have three different encodings on my Mac:

 

1. Chinese Simplified (GB2312)

2. Chinese Simplified (ISO-2022-CN)

3. Chinese Traditional (Big5)

 

Among the three of them I can usually find something that works. The most common here seems to be #1.

I did everything in Jim's FAQ/help and it is the same, even after a reboot...

 

I'll have to dig into this thing and see what might be going on...

I have some luck doing the following:

 

Click on "View" on your internet browser...then on "Encoding"

 

From the drop-down list "More -->" select "Chinese Simplified (GB2312)"

 

It works for me anyways....I can make out the Chinese characters instead of the gibberish...

 

...but, having said that...the Chinese characters look like gibberish to me too!

ps.  you might want to click off the "Auto Select" in that same menu...else it will keep taking you back to "Western European (Windows)"
