Health Insurence

my wife just got here from China and I need to get us some health insurence. Can i get health insurence for us if she dosnt have a social security or green card? What do I do?

It depends on your insurance company. With mine all I needed to do was provide them with her name age etc and send in the form. No SSN or green card required.I doubt very seriously a green card would be required in any case though.

Same experience as Carl's. My company plan (Aetna) just required 000-00-0000 to fill the field for the SSNs. Green cards were never an issue.

As soon I returned from China, I had my wife put on all of my benifits at work. It was no problem that she is still in china. I don't think the insurance companies care, as long as you pay the premium.

i have bluecross bluesheild when your work as its open enrollment it usually happend yearly where i work all i did was put her name down listed her as spouse they never asked for a ssn (afterwards).

she is covered now so i'm sure if you have bluecross or any other insurance policy it shouldn't be a problem .

Adam, I also had no problem adding my wife to my blue cross policy without a green card or a ss card.

except I then got online to look at the policy and they spelled her name wrong. I know, they all sound alike.

Same here. Aetna and John Deere. No social needed for either. Even now that she has one, it's only really extra info. My SSN is on both of our cards- as the policyholder, that's the one that counts.

Sarah got an SS card 2 days after she arrived home. However, it was stamped with the "no work w/poy authorization" stamp. The regular SS card was issued after she got her green card.
