DW1
Hi,My wife's CR1 interview is going to be the morning of November 28.If approved, does GZ always give the visa the same day? next day?mail it? Do they ever tell you to go home and wait for it in the mail? that would certainly suck because she lives in a far away province.I'm hoping that if her interview goes smoothly on the 28th she can be on a plane on the 30th!Any insight/ comments are appreciated! ~D Link to comment
LeeFisher3
The visa when approved is issued 2 days later at branch of the China Postal Savings, with your interview on the 28th that would mean she would go to pick it up on the 30th, she will need her ID card. After the interview she will go to a booth for the China Post, complete the mailing label and pay a 20 RMB mailing fee for it to be sent to the pickup location. The only time they tell them to go home and wait for the mail is if there is some sort of difficulty. Link to comment

They will not mail it outside of the local province at this time. This is a bit confusing for us, but not a problem for our SO's who understand the difference. It is actually a bank where they send the visa packet. I have got the sheet given out by the consulate and will try to get it scanned this week. Link to comment
amerchin
After the interview when you have been approved go to the PO that's in the Visa Center. Pay the cost for the pickup or mailing. Check the GUZ site for the price for pick up and mailing listed below. http://www.usembassy-china.org.cn/guangzho...or%20tianyu.htm Link to comment

Is it near the Consulate, or far away? On the third day, what time is the visa ready for pickup at China Post? In the morning or in late afternoon? Is China Post open on Saturdays and Sundays for those whose interviews are on Thursdays and Fridays? Thanks,Fred Link to comment
LeeFisher3
The location is less than 1 mile away, a cab from the consulate to there is about 7 RMB. My SO decided we were not in a hurry and so we paid 4 RMB for the subway to go to the next stop. Probably walked as far as the subway took us, but she saved money. They open the doors at 8am and you can get a ticket for your place in line. The area for picking up the visa opens at 9am. We arrived about 8:30am, got number 24 and we had our visa before 10am. Due to the humidity and heat I convinced her that we should take a cab back. Link to comment

Good to know the visa is available for pickup early in the morning of the second day after the interview. My laopo will probably walk that one mile. If I were there, I am sure to walk it, and enjoy the scenery. Is the route crowded and safe for walking? Fred Link to comment
