Just found this out!

Recommended Posts

I called NVC at 10:10 c.s.t. with the intention of entering my GZ case number into the automated system. I have just found out there are operators (officers) answeing the phone from 7:30 to midnight e.s.t...at least that's what the recording says....

I didn't stay on the line, as I do not feel like speaking to a government grunt right now...I'm afraid they'll agitate me and ruin a good nights sleep.

I was surprised since they used to close around 5:30p.m. -6 p.m. my time. Could this extension of live operator hours be an indication that the system is really trying to straighten out?

well, thinking of hving to answer similar questions day by day, bearing accents from different countries... their work is far from glamorous...

I made my first call at 8:40 e.ts. yesterday. Being held on for two minutes, my call went through to a guy. I spoke briefly and slowly(since I have accent), got my GUZ number and was informed my case is in process. My ituition is that not to talk for too long with the visa specialists since no one wants to speak to a machine for a long time...and it won't make any difference to the case, I guess.

the best time to reach a "live" person is at 7:30 or shortly thereafter, or else you will keep getting the automated responses, then after your 3rd attempt, the electronic recording says...... BYE

it's no problem to talk to them, most are friendly and helpful (especially in morning) just keep your questions short and be pleasant!!!

good luck :)
