Steve and Qingqing
My SO just came back from her medical exam and I asked her to get the vaccinations that were on the P4 list sent to her. I know these aren't required now but will be later for the AOS.. The doctor informed her that she only needed 3 of the vaccinations on the list and that only those three were required by the USA...I say this doctors wrong.. The list comes from the United States Embassy as requirments for residence status later on... I can see if youve had some of the vaccinations before but she hasnt....has anyone else rum into this?... I would like my SO to get them there since they are alot cheaper...I will find out which three this doctor said she only needed. david_dawei
here is FAQ on vaccination.. see comment on three in some answers.. Q.1.18 Which Visa types require vaccinations? A.1.18.1All applicants for immigrant visas are required to have the following vaccinations if appropriate for age, medical condition or medical history: • Mumps • Measles • Rubella • Polio • Tetanus and diptheria toxoids • Pertussis • Influenza type B • Hepatitis B • Varicella • Pneumococcal As a fiancée (K1 visa), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancée visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status. A.1.18.2She should be exempt from all of the childhood immunizations, as these are not indicated for an adult. The influenza is only given in wintertime. The Pneumococcal is only for people 65 or over. If she has a chickenpox scar on her arm, then that vaccine is not indicated. This only leaves MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) and tetanus. Amy told the doc that she had the MMR shot as a child and as a result she only had to get a tetanus shot. She showed the doc her yellow vaccination book (which has no English in it) and the doc bought her story. Another factor is if she is in childbearing years, as this will mean that several immunizations should not be given. A.1.18.3I was told that the necessary shots are tetanus, MMR, and a chicken pox vaccination if the patient has never had the chicken pox. tywy_99
All the vaccinations that are shown on the list are not necessarily required. They just cover all possible illnesses where some of the illnesses are more prevalent in some countries than others. So your fiancee will not need every single one of the vaccinations listed. The 3 main shots would probably be the MMR, the DpT, and maybe the chicken pox inoculation, which are the more common shots. Some civil surgeons will also do a TB skin test if you are not able to show proof of a recent test. This information about vaccinations is what I remember reading from the CDC website some time ago.
