Returning to US

Hi,

 

Once my SO passes the interview with GUZ we plan to fly out of Hong Kong. Do I have to purchase a return trip ticket or can I just buy a one-way out of Hong Kong for her. I plan to go to Hong Kong and pick her up. Thanks.

I know of no reason to buy a R/T ticket. I bought a one-way ticket when we came home.

Likewise! When we left China two plus years ago, we both had one-way tickets. Flew our of Gunagzhou. Don't see any reason for round trip unless it is a great deal and you plan to return to China in the near future. Have a safe trip!

Ditto. Bing flew from China a year ago out of Shanghai on a one way ticket. There have been threads where some airline gave some people a hard time because they didn't understand that a K-visa doesn't require a roundtrip ticket. If my memory serves me well it was Northwest on one of their new destinations in China. The ticket agent had to get a supervisor who after a few phone calls decided it was ok not to have a RT ticket.

The only reason that past threads have raised is that this seems to be airline specific... so shop around if your told you need a R/T... there's plenty who have gotten a one way.

If she has a K or CR visa she will be allowed to tranist through HK. I believe she can stay up to 2 weeks but I am not sure. Many here have brought their SOs home through HK no problem.
