An article about the Chinese perspective from the People's Daily 'Tomb Sweeping Day' distorts Chinese meaning of Qingming
-
The Sweeping of the Tombs begins today in China. It much like All Saints Day in the Christian Faith. My better half will go to Baise with her Mother for 3 days.

My better half told me today that the Qingming festival starts today or Sweeping of the tombs. It it the Chinese way of honoring their past ancestors similar to our Memorial Day here in USA.

My wife is going to Baise to pay her respects to her ancestors. The Qingming festival falls on the first day of the fifth solar term, named Qingming. Its name denotes a time for people to go outside and enjoy the greenery of springtime. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a0/Ching_Ming_comforts_to_heaven.png/200px-Ching_Ming_comforts_to_heaven.png
