I mailed in the application to renew my wife's 10 year green card on September 23rd. She had her biometrics appointment second week of October. She received the new green card in the mail yesterday. So 41 days for the complete process. Next we go to the Chinese Consulate in L.A. to get her passport renewed.

I'm happy to say this forum has been an enormous help to me over the last several years while I applied for a green card for my spouse through DCF and then the removal of conditions process. During this time I have amassed a large amount of paperwork to show as "evidence" for the removal of conditions. Thankfully my husband finally has received his 10 year permanent resident card. He currently does not plan on applying for citizenship and will most likely renew his green card in the future when it expires. So my question is... am I finally safe to shred all this evidence of the bona fides of our relationship?! From what I can tell it is not needed for applying for citizenship or to renew his green card, however I think I will be forever paranoid that someone out there is going to ask me to prove our relationship is not a sham. Can someone reassure me that It's not necessary to hold onto all these bank statements, old lease agreements, expired rental insurance contracts ect that I have been lugging around for years? I would love nothing more than to shred it all and finally close this chapter in my life.

We had been living in the states but moved back to China almost a year ago. During that time my wife's US green card expired. Now we have decided to move back to the US again. Is it any easier to get a green card when you have had one previously or would it be easier for her to get a 10-year visa or something and go through the process of getting another green card after we are back in the states? Thanks in advance.

Well, it seems my wife's daughter has 'misplaced' her green card!!!! Still looking but what's the procedure to get a new one? She has an I-131 as she went to China for her masters degree. Does that make it any easier? She's of course in China right now. I saw where they suggest you need to do an I-90 and pay the fees plus have fingerprints?? How does she have her fingerprints taken if she's in China? Also, she mentioned that she wants to become a US citizen. Being out of the country on a 131 for 2 years does that reset her 5 years required after the green card was issued? Thanks for all the help! Marc

Hi All, Wow, can't believe how long it's been since we got married in the USA (over 12 years). CFL was a HUGE help, thought I would reach out for any helpful ideas again. She's Chinese, we were married in the USA and her 10 year visa will expire next year in Oct. Our kids are grown and settled here and we will semi retire in China next year. So... what to do about her USA immigration status. We are not going to come back here twice a year to keep her permanent status, maybe once ever 1 or 1-1/2 years. Should we just get her a travel visa each time? Can she have a green card and stay outside the USA more than 6 months. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hey got a quick question a friend of my wife's brother used our address on his green card application and everything was fine until they mailed the green card to my house and since I forgot to add him to the list of people living here on the mail box they did not deliver the card. What do we need to do? I added him to the mail list now so it will come if they resend it. question is how do we have them resend it?

I hope this is the correct forum. My wife's green card was stolen we feel and we applied for a replacement. It's been over 5 months and not received and I remember some telling what month applications the USCIS is working on. Is there a link for that information or is that found out by a call in. Thanks in advance,

My wife became friends with a woman. This is her situation. She came here legally with promise of a good job. She arrived legally and had a green card. The work she was to do was quite undesirable and not what she was promised in China. Her card expired and her lack of English has hindered her renewing it. She would like to stay here. She is in the SF Bay Area.. Does anyone know if she can renew this? Where should she start.. Thanks and hope all is well with everyone.. Jim

Well, in three days we can apply for removal of conditions, and we're getting the paperwork ready to send. There is one question I sort of need an answer to, though. Not specifically related to the I-751. When ChunMei last returned from China in June the immigration agent at LAX pointed out to her that her birth date on her green card didn't match the date on her passport. Her date of birth is 6-2-1963, and somehow on her green card they had entered it as 2-6-1963. She's been out of the country three times now, and this is the first time that anyone (including us) ever noticed it. ChunMei told the agent that in a couple of months we would be applying for the ROC, and the agent told her we could just wait until then and get it fixed on her 10 year green card. My question is, how do we do that? Do I include a separate page detailing the problem, or what? I'm sort of lost here.

Hello Everyone! Its been forever since I have posted on Candle. My wife got her citizenship and both her parents have come to America and both were approved for their green cards. Nicola's dad got his green card weeks later but her mom has been waiting forever! When we contacted them we got a letter saying they were printing her mom's green card and it could take up to six months! It also reaffirmed that her green card was approved. Anyone have experience with this? I hope everyone going through the difficult time of waiting for their wives to get a visa realize that in the end the wait is all worth it! Hope everyone is doing well!
