  1. Don't want to get into a political rant here.....Other than to say a few years ago someone ran for office on the "The Rent is Too Damn High" party and if I ever ran for office, I would start "The Too Damn Slow" party I haven't followed the issue too closely and don't understand all of the nuances so I was hoping the more politically astute members here could tell us if the likely impact of "immigration reform" for those of us with family members currently in line for legal immigration. Do the proposals speed up the process for legal immigrants and put those who are here illegally at the back of the line? Or will the influx of illegals jump to the front of the line ahead of those already in line for legal immigration? Just curious as to the likely impact since my 28 year old unmarried stepdaughter has 2 years in line with a long wait still ahead. I have 8 more years to retirement at age 66, my health is not very good, but I hope to hang on long enough to see my step-daughter come over. Then my wife will have someone else to "supervise", which might even add a year or two to my life. ---- By the way, I am swamped working over 85 hours a week to eke out a life and pay taxes to Uncle Sam. But I do check in when I get a chance/ I want to thank everyone for all the great information and the especially for all of the chuckles that brighten up my day! Many thanks, True Blue
  2. Get ready. Since DACA went into effect, it went from "we won't process these petitions until fees collected allow hiring of additional resources" and "These petitions will take 3-6 months to process" to nearly IMMEDIATE approvals (over 100,000 so far), nearly 500,000 applications received, and as many as 600,000 still expected. CSC is practically at a standstill and slowing. Couple that with potential for more chaos from any comprehensive package passing this year and some people are going to be in for a loooooong wait. It is nice to know that these are being prioritized over petitions filed by american CITIZENS, and accellerated beyond capacity of the USCIS to use due dilligance, while we are scrutinized under a microscope and made to wait. These folks are already here and have been here for years. God forbid they had to wait another 6 months for a work permit. I'm so pissed right now. If you check the USCIS website for case status, it now says they won't even have new cases online for 30-45 days after receiving them. Just a month ago it was pretty much the same day. They are being overwhelmed. Political pressure has dictated what is to be priority, and it's not us. Good luck to everyone waiting.
