Hi, has anyone gone to the Washington DC Embassy to replace a passport? I need to know if we need an appointment. I plan on leaving in 3 days so it would be helpful if I knew. Wife lost chinese passport and she needs a replacement. I do not see anywhere where we need an appointment. She said she saw it on the Chinese website. We have a copy of the passport that is certified when she applied for the two year green card. I know we need passport photos and I downloaded a form she is having a hard time filling out and is going to get her friend to help her. I tried to emal the embassy and already got a reply their email server rejected the email. Last time I tried calling an embassy I only got busy signals or voicemail no one ever replied to. The passport services I tried online only deal with US passports.

My wife's Chinese Passport will be expiring and Houston is the consulate that Florida folks use. We will make a trip to Houston if we have to but I've seen that the consulate has gone to Miami in the past to do an "outreach" type of thing. Anybody know if there's one coming up? So far we haven't been able to reach the Houston Consulate by phone. Thanks, Richard

My Chinese wife's passport has expired. We live in Atlanta and she seems to think we have to travel to Houston to fix this. Is that correct? Surely there is an easier answer.

My wife is worried that she needs to get a name change addendum added to her passport since she became aware of such a process through the consulate. She is worried that on exit from Chinese immigration that since her green card is in her married name and does not match her passport (first name and last name changed) it will cause trouble. (They will check her green card to ensure she has entry clearance to U.S.). She has a legal name change court order and marriage certificate but she is worried that if she does not go through the name change process through the Chinese consulate she may have trouble. What have others done? Was this needed? We had been thinking to not bother until her passport comes up for renewal in 2017. Lee

I tried to read the Chinese Embassy site and the Los Angeles Consulate site, but I could find no information regarding this issue so maybe you all can help. My hubby needs to renew his Chinese passport next year. I know that we are supposed to apply in Los Angeles for his new passport, but my hubby was told by his other Chinese friends that the Consul (or other authorized person) makes a trip to Honolulu about twice a year to handle these renewals within the state. Now, I may not have the most perfect Chinese, but I did not see anything about this on the Chinese Embassy/Consulate website. Supposedly they put it in the newspaper a month or so before they come to Hawaii. Has anyone heard of this? I don't mind making the trip to Los Angeles because we have a lot of family there and there will be a family reunion in Vegas so we can hitch a ride to Vegas after we are done with the passport stuff, but hubby would like to save the trip, or at least have time to spend in Los Angeles doing something "better" than passport renewal. Any of the 808 state people know anything about this? Have others heard of this happening? I don't want to doubt what hubby said, but we need to start planning our action plan here! Thanks as always for all your help!

Has anyone done the Chinese passport renewal at Houston Consulate? Impossible to get any up to date and accurate information regarding what documents are needed and other essential details. I even saw on the Internet that minors are not required to apply in person. Is this true? How many days would we nneed to be in Houston? Would appreciate any feedback regarding this topic. Many thanks, Ken

Well it's that time for my wife (Zhenghong) To get her passport renewed. Her passport will expire this year 7/21/2011 Though we do not plan to go home (China) until late this year if not early next year. We still need to get this taken care of We live in Ohio and NY is the place we need to go to get this taken care of. Just wondering if anyone has been through the NY Chinese consulate process of getting your wife's passport renewed? If so what was needed and what was your experience there? I have (Tried) to read the NY consulate web site and it is a bit inconclusive about what is needed. Any help and or advice would be appreciated. Mike. On a side note: Dan, The Man! We talked a little about this subject last week. Any input?
