  1. Hello, quick questions regarding I-131 (to get Travel Document) and I-751(to remove condition on green card). Both of these need biometric taken (i.e. fingerprints). 1) Do biometric have to be taken in the US? Do US embassy in China do that? 2) Do the applicants have to be in the US to file the application? Thanks!
  2. Once again, government inefficiency and bureaucracy rears its ugly head.... My wife did biometrics with CBP for Global Entry on 3/17. We had an appointment scheduled at the USCIS for biometrics for a UK Visa the next day, 3/18. We asked if those biometrics on the 17th could be used for the 18th. Answer no, of course, that's a different department (aren't they both part of DHS?). Wasn't the point of the post 9/11 consolidation to be able to SHARE security information? Surely all the biometrics on file from the green card process, several entries to the U.S., and this should be enough to provide fingerprint data, but no... So, 3/18 biometrics were done for UK visa (in Houston). That was easy, you could schedule it online as you apply for the visa online. You can choose any location in the country and date/time available. She applied for the N400 shortly after this (after she was challenged by the CBP officer suspiciously as to why she hasn't applied for citizenship, in a tone implying she is still active in the CCP or something...) We were waiting for the appointment notice hoping to get it by 4/13 when we would be out of town again until 4/23. It never came yet. We arrived home on the evening of 4/23 to get the appointment notice telling her to appear on 4/23 at 11am!! The notice was dated 4/3, it was postage metered on 4/10! It took 7 days to print and mail? Of course we called USCIS to inquire as to what to do and got the expected only answer: mail in to reschedule. No option to schedule online, no option to speak to a person to schedule a day that works for us. I travel constantly for work and she comes with me. We will be out of the country in the latter half of May into early June. I sent in the notice with a request to re-schedule on some days in early May that works for us. However, I see that the likely turn around time is not going to allow those options so we are likely to get a reschedule during our next trip. We may also get that notice in the mail when we are gone and miss it again. If the case has not already been considered abandoned, will likely be cancelled on a second missed appointment, you think? So here's the plan: I have heard that walk-ins are possible but have seen mixed results reported: 1) allowed right in, 20 mins, done 2) turned away at the door 3) allowed in but waiting several hours standby unsuccessfully as each hour block could not be processed in the hour available. I am scheduling an InfoPass appointment for the last business day we are at home, first thing in the morning. If we get the appointment letter before then and it gives us a date that does not work, will send in again requesting for reschedule for sometime in late June when we are home. If we do not get the appointment letter, will go to InfoPass appointment and request to know what date we have been scheduled (if the letter is being processed or in the mail). Ask if we can do it right there and then, or ask to reschedule for a day that works.... if they will do it for us. I am trying to figure out what days are better to attempt a walk in (Seattle). Seeing mixed results reports online, Mondays are bad and Wednesdays may be good (no scheduled appointments some say?), however I think we can only get there on a Friday anyway. With an InfoPass appointment at least we can get in the door. From those few reporting using this path they have all been successful in getting biometrics done then. I debated going straight for a walk in after missing the appointment but only day we can get there is a Monday and I see a couple unsuccessful reports for that day of the week. (If we could only schedule online, like the UK visa process allows, there would be no issue... or be able to book with a person) Any other advice? Lee
  3. I have not been on here for a while but sneak in occasionally, I went to Immigration websight do you need to fill out I-90 to renew green card as it has biometrics in this page also fingerprints again? iT WILL BE TEN YEARS Believe it or not
  4. Hello all, I am curious if anyone knows if it is okay to do a walk-in for biometrics with ROC? We received our notice for our appointment but the date and time is not really convenient. I don't want to assume anything, so I ask for the "group experience." Thanks!
  5. Hey Everyone, So I received the Notice where my Wife's green card is extended 1 year after filing for the I-751 form. It said on the form about getting fingerprints at ASC. But then it saids Note: Conditional Residents WILL NOT Receive an ASC appointment notice. So I figured were good until green card arrives. So today I receive the notice for biometics on 10/2. I already booked flight to China on 9/20. Anyone know what to do? I send back to reschedule and put a note on it do you think they will reschedule after she comes back in 5 months? hmmm Thanks, Vinny and Qing
  6. Afternoon everyone, Yuan And filed for her AOS, EAD and AP at the same time. Her Biometrics appointment is on Aug 1, 3 weeks from mailing date. My question is, the Appointment letter has the I485 and I765 application Numbers on it. But does not list the I-131. Is this going to be a problem? The I-131 is the most important part of the process for us to get completed ASAP. Thanks for your time.
  7. Seriously, the people at USCIS are retarded jerks, and that's about the nicest thing I can say about them. We applied for my wife's US Citizenship and got the notice for the "final" biometrics, scheduled for January 19th. On the 19th we head down to DHS/USCIS in a pretty ugly snowstorm and fight our way down to Tukwila where the office is. Traffic was just insane, driving conditions were gruesome, but we weren't going to miss this appointment for ANYTHING. We get down there only to find out that DHS has closed the building due to snow. (WTF?? I mean, WE could get there, why couldn't they??) So anyway, the office is closed. We get back home and I call USCIS. We're told just to "sit tight" and that since they were the ones that canceled the appointment they would reschedule it and contact us. So we wait. And wait. And wait. Over the next 3 weeks I call them 4 times asking when we can expect to hear from them. Each time we're told to "be patient", "sit tight", and not to worry, that they'll contact us. They wouldn't tell us how long it might be before we heard from them. Estimates ranged from "a couple of weeks" to "six months" (!!!). Yesterday I called again and wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. After a bit of yelling and arm-twisting we're told that it's our responsbility to contact USCIS for a new appointment, even though they were the ones that canceled it. WTF?? That's right- if we'd just sat passively we would have been waiting until the Sun burned out, because USCIS "does not and will not reschedule appointments" that they cancel due to weather. You have to contact them, even if they're the ones that screwed everything up. What a bunch of a-holes. So we sent them a certified, return-receipt letter requesting a new appointment, and we requested that they expedite it because we lost nearly a month due to their incompetence. We'll see what happens. *^&@%!
  8. How much lead time do they give you on the biometrics appointment? Can you request to change it? Can you request a specific date or day of the week? How do you change it? Do they really need to do biometrics when they have fingerprinted her several times for her B and K visas? What more do they need? Can you report to a different office to have it done? We travel all the time and are rarely home. We make arrangements about a month in advance so need to know about when it might come up so to hold off on making the travel plans. Got the text and email last week that they got the packet so I imagine an appointment will be scheduled soon.
  9. We were originally scheduled for our biometrics on March 15, but because we would be out of town, we requested to be rescheduled for a later date, thinking it would be about 2 weeks from our request. As of today (April 8), still no appointment. So I scheduled one of the very limited USCIS Infopass appointments with the Phoenix office to talk about Sunshine's case while she is up taking care of business at our hotel out of state. The Phoenix USCIS "service" center had all the hallmarks of government inefficiency: 10 available windows, 6 of them occupied people right out of central casting for lazy government workers -- who were more concerned about their own personal matters and comparing shades of fingernail polish (i was close enough to listen, unfortunately) than helping the growing lines of customers waiting in the lobby area. Only 2 of the 6 employees even bothered to stop gossiping to help customers the 30 minutes I was waiting there. Now here is why I am upset: I tried to simply request an appointment for Sunshine's biometrics, and to see about how to get an AP for our scheduled May trip back to China. It turns out nothing could be done without her being present, even though I am her appointed and authorized representative per the G-28 form we filled out during AOS. Wait a minute! I was approved as a representative, and received copies of this. I showed him the copies of her info sent to my name. "Sorry, you must be an attorney to be a representative" "That's poppycock! I was approved!" He went to talk with the supervisor, who also agreed that I was not authorized. I asked to speak to the supervisor, a shrewish looking woman, about just wanting to set up a biometrics appointment a full month after we asked to reschedule. Her: "You are not authorized. Only lawyers are authorized. It seems you have misrepresented yourself." Me: "If that is so, why doesn't the G-28 require an Arizona Bar Number if only attorneys can be authorized representatives? Why was my petition approved by the national center? If they had a problem, why wasn't this denied? And why can't a husband be her authorized representative since she signed and approved this" Her: "Well that is the rule in this office, I am the supervisor." Me: "This is a federal form, and all offices should follow the same rules, correct?" Her: "In this office, I set the rules. If you are not a lawyer, you cannot do anything on her case unless she is present. That's it" At this time, this harpie-in-a-hairbun walked away. Has anyone else been denied? Also, who can I talk to about the Phoenix office and it's renegade rule-setting? I really think government workers in Arizona are the worst this country can muster.
  10. Hey all, Situation. My wife has a greencard with 2 year conditions. We sent our I751 form to Texas Service Center the early of Feb while living abroad ( I tool a job overseas) and my spouse's gc expires May 5th. We received the appt. letter today at our US address stating she must go to the biometrics appt. Apr. 1st. Question: 1) After this biometrics appt, will my wife get 10-year green card directly without extention letter or just get greencard extention letter? 2) if my wife can get 10-year green card after this biometric appt., how hong will it take? 3)If my wife just get greencard extention letter after this biometric appt., how long will it take? and is there any other appt. before they issue her 10-year green card ? I thought we'd get that letter first and then the biometrics appt. later but evidently I got that one reversed. Any ideas will be appreciated. So we can put together our travel plans. Thanks Chad
