  3. I stumbled on this one today. Let Me Guess! Asian people in general, and especially girls, are tired of hearing any variation of the phrase 'let me guess what country you are from real quick'. It gets old, real quick. You Look JUST Like... Lucy Liu, Sandra Oh, the list of Asian chick celebrities is fairly long, and apparently all Asian girls look like one of them. Hey, it's not exactly an insult, but it kinda is. Do You Get Punished For a 3.5 GPA? Asians are hard workers, it is cultural. But darned if we will not ask them until their ears go numb! Teach Me Origami? Origami, the ancient art of creating paper caricatures of swans and all that good stuff. You know it, right Asian girl? What's Your Chinese Name? Sometimes those born in Asia adopt American sounding names when staying in the States for a while, but an Asian chick born and raised in Florida really is named Rachel, whether you believe it or not. You Speak Really Good English? Well, I really should. After all, I was born in Wisconsin, but thanks! Can You Marry Non-Asians? For some reason, lots of people have the mistaken impression that Asians only marry other Asians. Look around you, clearly this is not the case. Do You Speak Chinese? General ignorance about which languages are spoken in Asia is rampant, so it should be no surprise that Asian chicks are tired of hearing all variations of this question.

  6. Interesting topic about what an American Born Chinese had to deal with when trying to find a job as an adult English teacher in Taiwan. Li Anne's article. http://www.8asians.com/2013/10/23/reverse-racism-in-taiwan/
  7. Many Chinese have wanted to come here and start a new life but have you ever wondered about the Chinese that wanted to go back to their roots. Not the ones that came here originally from China but the ones that are ABC (American Born Chinese). Most ABC runs into a major culture shock when going back to China. The language, clothes, and other habits. Listen to the voices of those who ventured back to their roots to see the walls that they have found going back to heir parents homeland. When asking my son if he is Chinese or Greek, he will tell you that he’s an American. Great answer but listen to those ABC that use the same answer and get different responses from the Chinese mainlanders.
  8. Very Interesting Blog Post http://kapookababy.com/2011/06/29/eight-chinese-women-one-overseas-born-chinese/ The Chinese I have been over here with tell me that they are immediately identified as not being from here. I originally saw this on James Fallows blog. He live din China and writes extensively about it.
