  1. Dear Mam or Sir, I will be taking my wife and step-daughter to Guangzhou next week for their immigration interview. I have searched for a specific answer to the following question but can't find it. My confusion is this: I filed two separate petitions, one for my wife and one for my 15 years old step-daughter. I am now currently filling out two separate I-864 forms. Since I am using my wife and my assets, should my wife fill out a form I-864A? One of her U.S. based accounts are exclusively in her name. I want to use our assets on the I-864 since I have no U.S. based income. I might have a sponsor lined up but want to try to avoid it if possible. Also, I am wondering how much a job offer really helps. I am in China and am luck enough to have received an offer in the United States. Thank you so much for all of your help on this site. I have been reading this information for almost 2 years and am grateful!
  2. Thanks so much for the excellent advice! I have a lot of thinking to do now
  3. Thank you, sir! I have searched everywhere and couldn't find any exact information concerning this question.
  4. I am wondering how to reestablish domicile. I know that the best case scenario is to actually travel back to the U.S., get a job, and get a lease or buy a house, but that's just not going to happen with me... At least I hope that's not the way things will work. That's my plan B. Plan A is to leave for the U.S. at the same time with my wife and three daughters. So... I was wondering if anyone out there can share some "reestablishing domicile" experiences with me that don't include the awful plan B scenario above? Also I was wondering what kind of documents are acceptable proof of "search for employment" or "search for residence"? I "search" even the correct word? I don't even know what "search for employment" means since I am currently in China. How does one earnestly search for a job or residence when they aren't even sure when their family will be allowed to immigrate? I realize I sound sarcastic but... I'm honestly wondering if anyone has a good answer to this question. Thank you all so much for such a great community site! I truly believe this site has the potential to change peoples lives and have seen examples of it here.
  5. Dear Mams and Sirs, My specific situation is this.... I earn a foreign earned Chinese income and can't count it (not enough to meet the 125% requirement anyway), and can't get a joint sponsor. However, my wife has deposited money into a U.S. bank account, in her name, the last time we traveled to the U.S. on a travel visa. Part of this money was provided by her father. The money is in her name only and surpasses the 125% X3 requirement for using assets. She is the beneficiary. I am aware that we are required to include deposits, bank statements, a letter signed by a senior bank official and proof that money can be moved and anything else that shows the movement of money for the previous 12 months if we report money still in China. 1. But I wonder if this proof is required of the beneficiary if the money is already in the U.S.? 2. And the other concern is the fact that a large portion of the money was provided by her father. Again this money is in a U.S. bank account. Will this be an issue? 3. One more dimension to this question.... Since we are totally using assets, more specifically money, to meet financial requirements and no personal or sponsor's income, are we going to run into problems? I know these are crazy questions. Thanks to anyone for help!!!
  6. This is such a terrific site! I just found it after completing my form DS-260 and sending in all the required information. I have searched for the answer to my question on this site an humbly ask for the following... My wife is IR-1 and my step-daughter is IR-2. I opened two separate http://ustraveldocs.com profiles for each of them, since my step-daughter will be 14 when we actually immigrate and they have separate case numbers. My question is this... how do I make an appointment match up or is it automatic? Do I make the same appointment time on both of their profiles separately? I know they should go to the interview together. Sincere thanks to you all!!!
