  1. Hi, My wife would like to be able to write in Chinese on my computer. Does anyone know of a Chinese word processing program that can work with Windows 98 -- preferably one that can be downloaded free or is inexpensive? Thanks. Louis
  2. My wife has been here for a week now and one issue I did not anticipate is that she finds the prospect of eating any kind of uncooked vegetable slightly disgusting. She believes that they must be cooked to remove pesticides. I guess I won't be eating many salads. Louis
  3. I want to thank everyone for their well-wishes. There were times during the almost nine months between filing the I-129 and receiving the visa that time seemed to have come to a complete standstill but now that its over, it feels as if the time flew by. Tina will be here on the 3rd, via Beijing and Chicago. Louis
  4. It does not appear that putting my wife's and son's papers in the same sealed envelop will be a problem. For Dean, and anyone else this happens to, you might be interested in the following message I received from GZ: Regarding of your question, please note that K3 must enter U.S. before K4, she need to inform the officer there's a K4 who will enter later at the moment she reaches U.S. When K4 enter U.S. he need to show the officer K3's visa copy. 5. Hi, My worries were indeed unfounded. My wife was able to pick up both her K-3 and her son's K-4 visa. There was a complication, though, all the papers were put in the same sealed envelop even though she was planning to come earlier. Sigh . . . Louis
  6. Hi, I wasn't able to be there for the interview and it was hard to wait by the phone not knowing where she was in the process. She is a worrier and now she is worried that she won't actually receive her visa when she returns for it on Wednesday afternoon. She tells me that this happens to one or two people each day. I've never read of such an instance -- does anyone know anything about this? Louis
  7. Hello everyone, I wanted to let everyone know that my wife just received her K-3 visa -- and at window number 7. She was asked the usual questions about when we met, how many times I've been to China. The VO looked at the phone records and email records but did not look at any photos. He did ask to see the I-134. It was over in 10 minutes. I already bought the plane ticket -- she'll be here on April 3!! Louis
  8. Hi everyone, My wife is leaving for Guangzhou in the morning for her K-3 interview on the 23rd and she just discovered that she needs to complete two copies of a form GIV-24, family composition sheet, one for herself and one for her son. She was sent only one copy and neither she nor I can find anyplace to download this form. She tells me that the form for her son is different than the form for herself so she can't simply copy the one she has. Can anyone help -- either tell me where I can download the form or send me a scan at ljanda@odu.edu. Thanks very much for any help you can provide. Louis
  9. Hi Dean, I wish you luck with your trip and the interview. My wife will be leaving Chongqing for Guangzhou on the 19th for her medical exam -- her interview is on the 23. It is an anxious time although I can't think of anything specific to worry about. I think she is completely prepared but yet, there is always the unknown . . . Louis
  10. It is frightening to know that something so important could be determined by luck of the draw. Does anyone know if they are any more or any less likely to deny a visa for a K-3 than a K-1 interview? My wife's interview is scheduled for March 23. Louis
  11. Dean, I just noticed that we have more in common than recently learning the interview dates. Like you, I am living in Virginia, and like your wife, mine lives in Chongqing. Louis
  12. Hello everyone, Perhaps there is a wave of P-4s coming. My wife received an email from Guangzhou today that her interview is scheduled for March 23. She sent back P3 about the middle of January and it was in their system by Jan. 26. The end is in sight after a long wait (NOA1, June 27) I wish everyone luck with this process. Louis
  13. Hi, I know you will enjoy your trip to Chongqing. I returned from visiting my wife there a few weeks ago and they were not checking temperatures on domestic flights but they were checking them for international arrivals. Have a safe trip. Louis
  14. Hello everyone, My wife just told me that a woman posted on the 001 site that her child was denied a visa and that she would have to provide documentation from her ex-husband allowing her child to leave China before a K-4 visa would be issued. I have not heard of this requirement before. My wife's divorce documents state that she has sole custody of her child. Will she need a statement from her ex-husband? Thanks for your help. Louis
