Sending in the forms tomorrow.
And I sorta agree with a boundary-less world. To a point.

This is question #20:
If your relative's native alphabet is other than Roman letters, write his or her name and foreign address in the native alphabet.
I believe you are spot on again.

Help!
Question #20 Part C,
Does Ying fill that out in Chinese?
I get confused easy.
Bad mojo memories.
-
Thanks Dan.
Ying is a US Citizen, so that much is complete.
I appreciate your help and all you do here, although I rarely have visa questions anymore,
I know that I can count on you to help this one-eyed fool get through this mess.
Thanks again.

Well fellas. it seems Ying wants to help her brother and family, and sister and spouse, move to the states.
I know that an individual form must be completed for each person - 5 in all, but I am not sure about the fees. I know it's $420 but is that per family or per person.
As always, thanks for the help.

I sprayed the last coat of lacquer on it last Monday. It takes 3 weeks for the lacquer to cure enough to buff out. Right now I'm in the process of building a buffer. I bought some 12 inch buffing wheels from LMI and a portable shaft from Grizzly tools. I friend gave me a 1725 RPM 1/2 HP motor and I'm looking for a couple of pulleys. I need a 2" OD pulley with a 5/8" bore and 4.5" pulley with 7/8" bore so I can step down the RPM to about 750 RPMs. If it's too fast it will burn through the lacquer.
Is there nothing you can't do?

Well?????

Oh, it'll play, And it'll play just right!
It's this thread that inspired me to begin my "Our Garden" thread.
Cause it ain't just about building a guitar or a garden, it's about
having the peace of mind, albeit fleeting at times, to undertake
a project that projects who you are. And our Chinese wives add
a balance, sometimes tenuous at best, to our lives.
Anyway, beautiful work Carl and a wonderful expression of YOU!

Yesterday and today I sprayed a total of 5 coats of nitro cellulose stringed instrument lacquer over a coat of vinyl sealer. I'll wait a few days then spray one last coat with a 50/50 mix of lacquer and reducer. After that I'll wait for 3 weeks, buff it out and begin the set up process, gluing the bridge on, installing the tuners, nut and saddle etc.

What do you mean wait?!? How can you wait?
Wanna play it now! Wah!

Love the bamboo trellis, looks like our back yard.
Well, I'm afraid y'all are gonna have to put up with my crazy antics here.
More of Baba's handiwork.
In one day mind you.

This thread means more to me than anyone can know.
As I said in the beginning, this freedom to do this, this being home, was paramount to my survival in China.

Watch Out!
Baba found a place where no veggies are growing!

Guess I soon won't have to mow!
Ha!

Yes, my Baba and Mama were interviewed together.

Here's a fine example of "Companion Planting".
Climbing roses and cabbage.

Of course it just might turn out to be a Chinese delicacy.

This is the side entrance way. It all connects together. Eventually ($$$$$) there will be more lattice, a sitting area, my grill, fire pit, water feature, more plants, electric, running water, sound system, you know the frugal basic stuff every squash trellis needs.

Very nice Steve. Yours looks better than mine.
It's bigger too!

Great photos Steve. You guys have done a really nice job with the gardens. If Wenyan hadn't have left for Chinartucky when she did I would be out back digging and planting, especially after she saw you and Ying's gardens. I really like your woodwork too. I need to follow your example and build a grape arbor for these grape vines on our backyard that have been left unattended many years and now grow up into the trees...looking like kudzu in the summer...lol Make it easier for waa waa to pick grapes and make some more homemade wine...as well as for the deer to eat on their nocturnal journey.
We loved the work and look of your backyard and home.
tsap seui
I just finished a grape arbor for Bing,

Still building it.
Building, always building.
Working on your Luthier shop too, by the way.

We have a garden every year as well, plus one around our deck like you have. Last year, Li made the mistake of planting gourds that grew on vines. They climbed up our deck, over the rail and onto the deck itself. What's worse, there were these little bees that loved the flowers. We finally had to uproot them as they literally were taking over the deck. I felt like I was in that old 50s horror flick "The Day of the Triffids." At first, we just tried to keep cutting them back, but they were worse than kudzu. They just kept on comin'. We did have lots of gourds though. I ate so much of the stuff I thought I was gonna turn into a gourd.
Went through the same thing Mick. Something to climb on? Calls for squash!

I remember when I was stuck in China and someone, I believe it was Bobby, posted some pics of his home. I was a train wreck in China and seeing those pics brought me to tears. Big time.
Well, time has passed and wounds have pretty much healed, and now I want to sort of payback some of the folks who made our journey possible. And for anyone in the dreamin' stage.

One of several small gardens with (of course) Chinese veggies.
http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/b580/slw268/IMG_0402_zpsa907bf46.jpg
Our deck with yet another veggie garden - sugar peas, lettuce, tomatoes, and God knows what else.

This was one of our perennial gardens until Baba got his hands on it before things started growing. He, ahem, decided to yank the "weeds" and plant even more unknown veggies!
Some perennials survived.
Well, wahtdayaknow! Ying just called from New York to check on her gardens!
Gotta go water!
More to come!

Thanks Dan

I want to post some pics here of various things. What is the best size to do this?
Thanks
-
We got Baba and Mama here quick and easy.
An earlier post mentioned that a viable reason to return to china was the only priority. I respectfully disagree.
Showing that you are capable of and prepared to house, feed, and meet all their needs while here is also important.
The big question is, "Are you sure you want to heard cats for the duration of their stay?
-
Update:
We dealt with it, paid for it. Baba's fine now. Well, except for medical emergency Part II.
But we dealt with that too.
What an adventure, I'll tell ya what!
-
Nah, no way I took anything wrong my friend.
I was speaking in general. I think we all took and take a whole lot of adjustin'
with our wives.
In the beginning, from what I'm hearing, this guy couldn't hold a candle to
my unthought-out and off-the-wall decisions. But, we/I grew, dealt and deal with it daily.
You I would tell our story to and Altoona is only 2 hours away.
How about it?
-
Thanks R. Finally a font I can read!
All joking aside, I haven't watched this and probably won't.
Why?
Cause even though we are in a good space today I ain't even gonna
get into the shit I, unintentionally for the most part, screwed up.
At times I know it's me, at times I know it's her.
I was honest though.
