  1. I pulled an old form off of the IRS as a pdf once, I dont know if I can do all of them like that though. One final question I want to ask about the Support document, when filling it out part 3, question 8 and 9 are very strange. the form lets you check I am sponsoring the princiapl imigrant in part 2 and also lets you check a yes or no under it. So I checked yes and the question...not sure why they did that, then question 9 confuses me too, it has a list under it where you can put immigrants in it again. do I need to put my wife in there again for part 3? or just putting her name in part 2 is okay? is the part in part 3 for any OTHER immigrants I might be sponsoring?
  2. I can just pull the copies of the last three years from the IRS website right?
  3. Hello guys! I am expecting to receive package 3 any time, and looking ahead I am already starting on it. However, I am a little confused about the Affidavit of Support. I don't meet the income required so I had planned to get support from my father. The problem is I don't know how to do this. From what I can tell. I should fill out an Affidavit of Support, I-864. Then have my father fill out the form I-864A. And thats it? Or does he need to ALSO fill out the I-864? I'm a little confused about what all is necessary. And it says to mail the I-864 with package 3, do I mail my fathers also with it? or give it at the interview? And, I'm going to guess this is not possible, but going to ask anyways. Since im doing DCF, my Dad is in USA, which makes it inconvenient for me to get the form. Is it necessary I have him mail a signed copy to me, or is there any chance scanned or copied signed copy sent over the internet to me and printed will do?
  4. Dante3rd, I wrote my Wifes's parent's address in Chinese on the 2nd page, because we are not moving into a new place together until my current lease finishes...does that mean they will send to her house?
  5. Ah, I already sent it. so I can't attach anything now lol. Is there anything I can do at this point? will emailing them help at all?
  6. On one last quick question. I plan on leaving this apartment in 3 months. Will they send me everything by email since I put the electronic notification form in with my package? Also my apartment doesnt even have a way to recieve mail. but it didnt ask for a mailing address anywhere...will they call me first? I dunno what I should do about this.
  7. Well after finally finishing the I-130, my wife mailed it yesterday while I was at work. But now I am worried because she put her Name on the mail package. I didn't think about it until now, but will this cause a problem? Will they think its suspicious with her name? Maybe I am just over thinking things...but I would feel really stupid to mess it up at this point.
  8. I've completed my G-325A...In my Work History I Wrote all the info I could fit, except for the addresses, So beside the name of the place I worked I put (See Attachment), then on the attachment I have "Employment History Addresses" and put the name and the address in all of them. I decided not to worry too much about the dates. Residential history is a little weird. I put my current address in China, then after it put my parents address, who was my permanent address through out college, and put the years for all 5 there. but after, I also listed addresses that I paid bills at during that same time. I don't know if that will confuse them to death or what... Also my Wife seems pretty confused about how chinese addresses should be properly translated ... I told her to just put in a literal translation, I hope the government isn't looking for a specific format and is resourceful enough to figure it out. Still wondering about the 3 month lease thing, i noticed they dont ask for a phone number anywhere on the I-130 or G... Thanks for all the Help thus far guys, especially you Dnoblett!
  9. Yes this is fine. On the attached sheet need to note what form and line it is for. I've worked alot of places...does the G-325A Need to be very accurate about the dates on these jobs? I have a 'pretty good' idea of where I worked when. and i've filled out all 5 lines with all the jobs except for one, a job i worked at krogers for like only 3-5 months...I left the job so fast, do you think its necessary I attach a paper and add that too? And im putting my current address in China too, however, my lease ends at this place in 3 months, not sure if I will still live here when it ends. I definitely will be sending this before then, but I wonder if it will be a problem that my current address will be changing. maybe I should note this on my cover letter?
  10. Nope, B&W is perfectly fine. I'm filing out the G-325A and there not enough space for full addresses, can I attach a separate sheet and say "See attachment"? (and even with hand writing, I know I wont fit it in.
  11. Thanks for all the help guys. I know this next question is a little silly, but I'm quite paranoid to mess anything on this up. Especially because of previous experiences with Government, I always expect them to be absolutely anal about everything. But do the copies I make of my passport, and other documents need to be color copies?
  12. I would believe one would be sufficient. Also if you can have your spouse's name added to lease, that would be good. One note: DCF tends to have lowest chance of denial due to US Citizen living overseas with spouse vs just getting married and then filing the petition in the states/ Besides the Affidvats , is there any thing else that will need to be notarized?
  13. Anyone giving a sworn statement, needs to sign it in front of a notary, this is fro verification that the person signing is in fact the person making the statement. Notary offices in China don't provide this, a notary office in China is primarily a records office. Note these statements are just one of the suggested items, they are not a requirement unless you cannot meet one of the other suggestions in the I-130 instructions (Joint ownership of property; or joint lease of rental property; or commingled fiances; or birth of children from your relationship.) A Joint tax return or joint bank account in the states is commingled fiances.. Sadly I don't have any of that yet. Do you think one Notarized Affidavit will be sufficient? I don't have a common tenancy lease because im still on the lease I signed before I was married here in China...though I always suppose I can ask if theres a way to add her to the lease.
  14. Affidavits from friends need to be notarized, and typically when dealing with DHS should be English., Notarization can be done at the US Consulate for a fee. Other evidence of relationship can be used, for example if you married last year, then a copy of a joint IRS return can be included. Relationship evidence such as a few photo's together from various occasions, also a few of you with family is good. Yep. Thats a pain! it would be quite expensive for me to take a friend out to the consulate. Can I get the notarization done by someone other than the consulate? like from some local place in town not related to US Government? And you said "Friends" does that mean the parents wouldn't need a notarization?
  15. Also, it says that DCF needs proof of residence in china for 6 months. Do I just include a Copy of my Residence Permit in my Passport when filing for DCF?
  16. http://shanghai.usem...rimmigrant.html DCF is forum speak for "Direct Consulate Filing" just means you are filing the I-130 to the DHS office located overseas rather than mailing the petition to them in Chicago IL (DHS--USCIS) Follow this guide: http://www.visajourn...tent/i130guide1 (G-1145 may not be needed due to filing overseas however I would include it) I-130TWO G-325A forms, one from petitioner, and one from beneficiaryCopies of relationship evidenceCopy of marriage cert + TranslationCopy of divorce certs from any and all prior marriages Affidavit of support is an interview time thing, not needed when filing the petition. ) Ah I see. Thanks! As for proof of marriage, should I include photos with this? Or Some Affidavits from friends in China be enough? I have a close friend I can probably get one from. Perhaps one from the mother too, but she doesnt write English. (Should I only include english ones?) or will friends be sufficient? How important is this step? So I suppose after this step they will give me instructions for the next step. I just hope I dont have to go to Beijing office more than twice, living in Changzhou it will be a little bit of a trip to do this. Thanks,
  17. Hello users! I recently got married . I have been looking at the DCF Process but still very confused on what I should do first. First of all I know I should file the I-130 Petition. I noticed on several websites people talk about a cover letter, ect, but the form doesn't say anything about that. Infact it just wants a copy of my birth certificate (I assume a scanned one from the computer is ok, im in China and dont have access to it) and a copy of my Passport, Marriage Certificate. So what am I missing? Also, I thought I could file this in Shanghai, (Im in Changzhou). But the Shanghai website says I can't. I must go to Beijing, is this true?). I'm also confused what makes it "DCF", as theres not really a DCF form. From my understanding, I must just submit I-130 and until thats approved. (How long could that take?) I cant submit anything else, then I will need to go back to Beijing to file the CR-1, Correct? That includes the G form, for Biographic information, and Electronic messages right? When I submit that can I also submit the affidivat of support? I am just overwhelmed by what I need to prepare and how to submit it. If anyone has a good link to a nice step by step list. Thanks,
  18. Heck yes that qualifies. If I were in your shoes I would go for the CR-1 through Direct Counselor Filing and forget the K-1. Your Spouse would immediately get green-card upon entry to the USA, no expensive adjustment of status involved. You will need to visit a US consulate first to get a marriageability cert, visit the closest US consulate. http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/information_about_getting_married_in_china2.html Marry, and then file I-130 to the DHS department at the US consulate. http://beijing.usembassy-china.org.cn/homeland_security.html Kyle has detailed info: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showuser=39520 Shoot him a PM, http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=39544 One more question I'd like to ask you. My fiance's parents prefer for us to have wedding ceremony in the future in China after we have a house and bigger career. (Face is important you know in China). Will this affect my ability to take this route? I would assume at the interview they will want wedding pictures ect. And we really just planned on doing something simple and private now and later go back for a real ceremony.
  19. direct consular filing, I just read about this, I'm curious. However, I am on a Work Visa, with a Resident Permit, does that qualify? and do we need to be married first, then 6 months? And is there any sort of trick to this? from what I just googled, it seems so much easier its scary. I am confused why the process is easier.
  20. Hello Forum! I have been in China for over 6 months now working as a teacher. I decided to go after finishing college, because I wanted to do this before I started my career. During this time I also met the girl of my dreams. So, long story short I am working on a K-1 Visa. After reviewing the forms, I am a little confused on how living in China atm affects my petition. There appears to be no requirement for me to be in USA. The I-129F asks for an address and so does the G form that needs to accompany it. Should I fill this form out with my address in China? Or my permanent address in USA? Also, I've read in some places they can ask to interview the petitioner, how will this work if I am in China? Will I need to fly back to USA for this interview? The G form also asks for addresses you lived at in the last 5 years, in college, I lived at a few apartments, but none of them were 'permanent', should I include them, or just my family's home? Also, given my salary in China, I might not make the poverty guideline, at least be right on the edge with it, so I have convinced my parents to co-sign (That and I will have to switch jobs when I return to USA). However, I see nothing on the official government websites about co-signing but see it discussed everywhere on the web. If I understand co-signing correctly, they just need to fill out the exact same affidavit of support as I do, only mark they are not the ones petitioning for her.
