  1. Hi Gino, The map link is broken here, can you fix this?...I am trying to find a place to stay for our 11/26/08 interview date. Thanks, Brian
  2. Way to go Charles, I am hoping for a November interview also and maybe we can meet in the coffee shop. What day is your interview scheduled? I found out that our P3 was entered into the system on 10/10/08 so I hope to see Lily with a pink slip right around my B'day Anyway, great news and I'll think good thoughts for your success. Brian

  8. Finally.....225 days and I get P2 , funny thing is I received a letter 2 days ago saying my case is being held up for my background check and I should call them if I don't hear anything after 6 months . I guess my job did cause delays due to my security clearance is in the middle of my 10 year re-investigation. Ten days ago I contacted the USCIS by phone, sent a letter to the ombudsman and contacted my congresswoman asking them all for . Maybe that is what got things moving but at this point I know that this is only the next step with many more ahead. ANYWAY.....
  9. Ok guys.....It's been 193 days and no sign of my file being 'touched' or anything. Now I know that most have not waited this long.....is there a phone # that will allow me to talk to a live human being in the CSC who can let me know if my file is held up for some reason? I think it is sitting on someone's desk and they have died or stuck it under something else like this months issue of 'Make um Wait" inter-office memo.
  10. Congrats you guys, very happy for you! Hope mine is soon to follow......
  11. I've been watching other CFLer's get thier P2 (K1 visa) who filed at the CSC and it appears I've been overlooked. The website says they are working on October filings but most who filed in November have already moved to the NVC. I'm happy for everyone's progress and hope things continue to move ahead quickly My concern is that I screwed up the paperwork and I can expect delays and an RFE in the future . Should I start calling them and try and find out what's up or is that a waste of time. My Lily is worried that something is wrong and frankly, so am I Is my lack of patientence showing.......
  12. Corbin, Lily, her daughter and I stayed in Sanya last January when the rest of China was frozen by record cold and snow. Lily was able to escape from the frozen north (Shenyang) and I flew into Shanghai then on to Sanya. I arranged the Sanya round trip with elong.com after ctrip cancelled me at the last minute. ( I literally had 48hrs before my arrival to Shanghai to set up the flight to Sanya). I think the Sanghai - Sanya round trip cost was around $400 usd. We stayed in a 2 bdrm / 2 bath condo across the street from a OK (not great) beach for $450rmb a night. Lily found the place to stay so I can't remember the name of the lady she arranged the place with. We were close to the city and had a great view every night of the city lights. During the 8 days we had many things to see and places to go. We had almost perfect weather during our time but I understand it gets really hot during the summer. If you have any questions you can ask me directly and I'm sure more CFL'ers will keep you informed. Brian
  13. Hey Schuller, I noticed your timeline and I have one question.......who do you know and how can I get in touch with them? Brian
  14. Once again I am humbled by everyones helpful replies....you guys are the best. I will look into many of the options provided here and will keep you updated on the progress. Brian
  15. OK gang....I'm getting way ahead of myself here but I have a concern about Lili's daughter once she arrives in USA. She speaks almost no english and even though she will be studying english before her arrival I don't think it will be good enough for regular school. She is 15 now and will probably be 17 before she arrives. What are the options I have for her and school.....private tutor, private specialty school, home school, ESL classes until she can transition into public school and what about age, can she be a freshman in high school at 17 or 18? Have any of you had to deal with this issue? Any information would be great and if it matters I live in socal. Brian
  16. Thanks Jim.....sounds like some good advice that I will follow. Brian
  17. Thanks Randy, That is what I was looking for but could not find in my search. Brian
  18. After telling my security officer at work of my relationship with a Chinese national he informed me that I might lose my security clearance which means I would lose my job. Have any of you guys who hold a clearence with the U.S. government had this threat tossed your way in your pursuit of bringing your wife or fiancee here? What was the outcome? Just curious, Brian
  19. Thank's everybody for the great information....I'm glad to see that my situation is not all that different than some of yours. I will re-read this a few times to educate myself before the next trip. Happy year of the Rat! Brian
  20. Hello gang, Well I just returned from a 7 day trip where I saw the mother / daughter interaction full time. They get along well as best I can tell (daughter speaks no english and is 15 yo) and she seemed to like having me around for the week. My concern is this....daughter provided no help at all in cooking, cleaning dishes, picking up after herself or anything resembling assistance with daily chores. I asked Lili about this and she said very normal for chinese young girl to be this way. I have never had children but have been around neices and nephews enough to know that at this age they have been taught some helpful abilities that can be brought into the adult life. My question to the group, especially those who are bringing or have brought teenage girls over with the wife or fiancee, is it normal or do I have the beginings of a spoiled brat on my hands? I know that if she acts this way in my stepmoms house she won't be invited back for dinner anytime soon. What do you think? Brian
  21. Thanks guys, I will have her get another photo taken and send it to me just in case. Brian
  22. Hello CFL gang, I have a concern about the passport photo Lili sent to me and wanted to ask the group what you all think. I just noticed on the USCIS website that a passport photo must have a white or off white background. I checked the photo Lili sent and it had a blue background . Now I am very early into the process and know that they haven't looked at my application yet so should I send another passport photo and let them insert it where needed or not worry about something so trivial . Thanks for your help, Brian
  23. Thank you again for the great information, It sure is comforting to know that everyone is here and ready to help whenever needed. I love you guys..... Brian
  24. Hello everybody, Ok, I'm jumping way ahead here but my Lily asked a question and I wanted to pass it along because I don't know the answer. How long after Lily arrives in the US will she be able to travel back to China? Her daughter is enrolled in a 2 yr program and she might have to wait more than 6 months before she can follow mom to US. I know that there are many steps to go after Lily arrives but what is needed for her to travel out of US and how long does it take to get? The concern is if she must delay more than 6 months and mom cannot return to china for daughters interview which I believe will be needed if she delays more than 6 months. Thanks for your time, Brian
