  1. hi Ben, We stayed at Mr Yang's from June 29th until July 4th. Mr. Yang is definitely the epitome of a kind hearted person. Just having another set of eyes look through our files is reassuring. The room itself had a weird smell to it. It was a pretty bare bones room. But I guess for 230 rmb a night, we can't expect the Ritz Carlton or anything. The most important thing was the promixity to the Consulate and Mr Yang's infinite wisdom. Thanks, Don
  2. hi all, Sorry for the delay in my write up. Eva and I are celebrating her pink slip in Zhuhai right now. We arrived at Mr. Yang's apartment on June 29. He looked at our files and he said our case was pretty simple since neither of us had been married before. I also brought the "kitchen sink" that the kind folks on this forum had listed out. Eva's interview was on July 1 at 7:15am, but we didnt get in line until 7:30am. The line didnt start moving until about 8am. The guards outside didnt let US citizens in until 9am. I was lucky enough to meet a nice fellow from Connecticut who was there supporting his fiancee as well. To kill time and loosen the nerves, we threw back a few beers, while discussing how our lives would change in the next few hours. (His fiancee got pink as well. her interview was 3 minutes as well). Eva came down at about 10:45am, with a pink slip in her hand. She said the interview took about 3 minutes. The following questions were asked... 1. who filled the petition for her 2. how did we meet 3. how many times had I come to Shanghai 4. what does she do for a living 5. what do i do for a living And then the VO asked to look at my tax records and our pictures. We then called the post office 2 days later and to our surprise, the visa was ready. Everything couldn't have went smoother. Even the airlines misplacing my luggage from my flight over from SF and the severe thunderstorms havent dampened our spirits. We're back to Shanghai tomorrow for engagement photos. We'll have a small banquet in December, before she heads back to SF with me around Christmas. I cannot thank the kind folks enough for all of your knowledge and wisdom. We definitely couldnt have done it without this forum. Yours truly, Don the humblestudent
  3. hey Griz, Yes, we're planning on staying at Mr. Yang's. I'm flying into Shanghai on June 27 to meet Eva, and then we're heading into GZ on June 29. Hope to see you there.
  4. hey Griz, Maybe I'll bump into you in GZ. Are you planning on staying at Mr. Yang's?
  5. Just got off the phone with DOS, and our interview is coming up in about 30 days. It's perfect because I can attend ACH on Monday. I feel excited and nervous at the same time. Thanks everybody.
  6. I just talked to the USCIS and my worst fears were confirmed. They said that they've shipped my package back, but i might not receive it for 30 days. Once I receive it and send it back, I'm issued a new receipt number, thereby rendering my initial August 22 receipt date useless. I feel really down right now, since I've lost 6 weeks already. I guess I just have to stay positive and hopefully things will work out sooner rather than later.
  7. One can only speculate at this juncture; however, the lack of a signature on all four pages of the G-325, could very well be the issue. Each page of this form, has a clearly delineated signature block. If fact, the page #4 is the one which is routed to the Consulate in Guangzhou. These are not just repeat (copies) they are each original documents which go to multiple addresses/offices within the system. I am somewhat surprised (really) that the attorney did not catch this omission; if in fact, all copies must be signed, as it appears they must. That was my thought too. All 4 DO need to be signed. I've read some posts on VJ for this very thing, most seem to be for something not signed or incorrect fee. I'm a little susprised you lawyer said you only need 1 G-325a signed by each of you. If you have to re-petition I think the Lawyer should pick up the tab for this as they have dropped the ball. Some of the elder members can correct me , but if it is just a RFE, would they really say its rejected ? Rejected to me implies that the petition is incomplete in some way. Sorry to hear this has happened you must be bummed, what is your lawyer saying about this ? I left a voicemail for my lawyer, but without having the package in front of me telling me what the specific reason(s) is, I'm just speculating at this point. I remember a topic in VisaJourney where some people only turned in 1 signed G325 form, and they went through the process without any issues. Since its a federal holiday today, the post office wont deliver my package until tomorrow. It's gonna be a long night. =(
  8. I used the VisaJourney list as a guide, and I thought I had a pretty comprehensive list of proof. My lawyer said only 1 signed page of the G325 was needed, so maybe that could be the reason. But I wont know until I receive the package. I'll update you guys as soon as I receive it. And thanks again for listening to my rants.
  9. I'm just hoping for the best, that it's an box that's checked incorrectly. I tried calling USCIS, but since it's Columbus Day today, I think they have the day off. I picked up the diamond ring on Friday, and I was on cloud 9, but this just brought me back to reality.
  10. Hi, I submitted my i-129F on August 20. I got the noa1 this past Friday, October 5. When I went to the USCIS website and entered in the receipt number, it says, Current Status: Case Rejected On October 2, 2007, we determined that this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) was not properly filed, rejected it, and mailed it back to you with all supporting materials along with a notice describing the reasons the case was rejected. The notice will also describe what will need to be done to properly submit the case. I'm still waiting for the package to arrive to find out what the reason is. I was very anal about filling out the forms, and even had my lawyer look through it after I was done. Has anyone ever experienced this? I'm hoping it's not a big deal and wont delay my case too long. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  11. hi, I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm told that there are chinese agencies that specialize in filling out the paperwork and putting the k1 petition packets together. Has anyone ever used these agencies or know anyone who has? If so, how would you rate their service? Thanks.
  12. Hi, I was wondering on the fiance letter of intent to marry, is my fiance and I supposed to write a separate one, or can we write one and both sign it? Thanks, Don
