  6. Greetings, My SO, Ling received her K1 Visa last August and arrived in the USA in September. We were married that same month and we are just getting around to filing AoS. We do have an SSN and a State ID card in her new married name. My question is which name should she use, her Chinese name to match the passport and Visa or her new married name? I am thinking we should use her Chinese name, but just want to check here to be sure. Thanks Obie

  11. Carlos, The way it worked for Ling and I, we got a green packge at the China Post Office several blocks from the Consulate. Inside this was Lings passport, with her K-1 VISA stamp inside, and a brown sealed envelope containing all the entry papers needed to enter the USA. This will be opened by the imigration officials at your point of entry in to the United States. I think it is mostly the papers you will submit for your SO's interview. Hopt that helps, Obie
  12. Any interest in a "Survivor Pool"? Basically there are 15 players left on Survivor China, each member of the pool gets 1 to 3 players assigned to them randomly and when all your players are voted out.....your out. Anyone interested should reply on here before Thursday's 8pm Eastern airing. Obie
  13. I would bet it's going to get pretty interesting in most of our households during the Olympics next summer. Obie
  14. Very happy for you Kris & Jing Good luck to you both. Obie
  15. Greetings Carlos, A friend of mine and his fianc¨¦ went through a similar problem; they got a blue slip indicating they needed more evidence of a bona-fide relationship, and a missing police certificate from one of the places she lived. They mailed that to GUZ, about 3 months later she got a letter instructing her to come to the consulate at 2PM on such and such day....and bring your passport. It was a Monday, she did and they took her passport and instructed her to return on Wednesday......she did and they gave her a pick slip. She picked up her VISA on that Friday. Hope this helps Obie
  16. As a big fan of Survivor, I have been waiting for months for Survivor China. The visuals were beautiful; The Wall, the landscapes, the temples. The survivors were whacky though. It seemed they really didn¡¯t take the whole thing seriously. The guy Aaron says he wants to be the leader, but when the tribe selects him as their leader, he says he really doesn't want it. What a crock.... And speaking of crock....Dave is the biggest crock of s%!t on there. First he tells Ashley not to worry, being sick won't put her in danger of getting voted off, and then he actively lobbied other players to vote her off. Watch out for him. Seems like Peih Gee has the most power....or at least influence, since she was the only one speaking out about chicken, but managed to generate enough votes to get him kicked off. The challenge was pretty kool. I liked the Chinese dragon theme. It required several different skills to complete, and got everyone involved. I am interested to see how they tie Sun Tzu's Art of War into the game this season. They will probably develop challenges related to different excerpts from the book. Overall....I'm just happy a new Survivor season is underway. Obie
  17. Great News. Very happy for you. Obie
  18. Good luck Steve and Aiwen. Sounds like you are both well prepared and ready for the interview on Tuesday. I expect everything will turn out pink. The hardest part is the hours of waiting in the coffee shop. Obie
  19. Great news.....good luck to you. CFL membership pays off again. Obie
  20. Great news Claude & PengPeng. I agree with you that the tension does rise the longer you wait in the coffee shop. My SO was the last one out of the group that bonded on our interview day. But sure is sweet when she comes around that corner with a big smile. I'm not so sure the Government at the US Consulate can access all those Government databases so easily. i think the left hand has no idea what the right is doing. Obie Federal Government worker....hehehe
  21. Greetings, Yes it was a great day all around. Waiting in the coffee shop with Ben was quite an experience. Ben was very anxious as the morning progressed. Every time someone with dark hair would come around the corner from the consulate escalator, Ben would perk up and about come out of his seat to see if it was his lao po. As you can imagine.....everyone coming around the corner had dark hair...hehehe. All in all, we were both well prepared, thanks to the advice and knowledge of so many CFL members. It's better to bring the "Kitchen Sink" and not need it, then to be sitting there without the one document they decide to request. Good job Ben, and best of luck to you, Xue Ying, and Nini. Obie
