  1. FYI:

Lately, the EMS website, at least for me, hasn't be reliable. My wife has been able to check the status online, but when I try on my computer, I keep getting a generic error message. I think they've been having issues with their site over the past few weeks. Hopefully, when it's time for your interview they will have sorted out all of their issues.

Jingjing and I had no problems with the EMS site during the P3 and P4 tracking. This leads me to believe that the technical issue is current.

Jingjing did call EMS by phone and they verified the website issue.

    Hello Kyle,

Merry Christmas to you and your wife!

For the packet delivery, we did exactly the same as what you did.

My parents passed their interview on Monday, then on Tuesday they returned hometown in Shandong. On Friday, they received the packet from Mr. Yang. I think this was the biggest Christmas present for them ever.

Mr. Yang is really an honest and nice man!

Thank you very much for all your help!

    Have a wonderful holiday season!

  2. Greetings to all,

It's my great pleasure to take this time to specially thank Mr. Yang Jiahua at Tian Yu Garden for he has done an extraordinary job to help my parents's immigrant interview during their stay at Tian Yu Garden.

After I got my parents' interview date scheduled, I was looking for Hotel near GUZ Consulate for my parents to stay. From this wonderful forum, I was getting to know Mr. Yang.

Many members highly recommend his excellent service, especially for those who need someone to help with their application documents, Medical Exam and Immunization, etc. It is the perfect fit for my parents situation. Even though I did have a relative in Guangzhou, I decided to let my parents to stay in Tian Yu Garden. So I called Mr. Yang to reserve the room, my heart was touched when he said with Chinese "Don't Worry, I will do my best to help your parents, and you can consider me as your relative in Guangzhou", at beggining I thought it was just a businessman's promise, however, he's really done what he said. During the conversation, I learned that I did not have many childhood pictures with my parents, he suggested me to write a letter to VO to explain the reason and get it notarized. I did so. (During my parents' interview, the VO looked at all the pictures one by one, and asked some questions and she smiled.)

I reserved 2 bedrooms for my parents, my younger sister and my nephew, priced 280 Chinese Yuan per night, plus 10 Chinese Yuang per day for using kitchen cooking food ( When checked out, Mr. yang only charged 280 Chinese Yuan per day)

After my parents, my sister and my nephew arrived in airport, my relative went to airport picked them up and drove them to Tian Yu Garden. Mr. Yang meet with my parents there, the same day, he reviewed my parents' documents, asked my parents several questions, such as when I came to USA etc, in fact, these questions were asked by the VO during the Interview.

The next day, Mr. Yang provided transportation without any charge for my parents to get their Medical Exam and Immunization.

On Sunday evening (my Parents' interview was Monday), Mr. Yang went to see my parents, and re-organized my parents documents and told my parents what documents need to give to Consulate worker, and what else need to give to VO, and practiced several questions. With Mr. Yang's extraordinary help, my parents felt much confident.

On Monday, after my parents successfully passed their interview, I called Mr. Yang and thanked him, he said with Chinese "You are welcome. Nothing is better than passing the interview, I am so happy for your parents". Then he went to the Post office at Consulate building to help my parents about their passport and visa delivery. Since my parents live in Shandong, the Post Office does not cover Shandong, we asked PO to deliver the parcel to Mr. Yang, then Mr. Yang will mail it to my parents with Express service.

On Tuesday, after checked out, Mr. Yang drove them to the bus station.

After My parents, my sister and my nephew arrived home, I called them, they were having their dinner at that time, my sister stopped her dinner, and told me with Chinese "Mr. Yang is a great man, I can not believe there is such a good businessman in this era, his help was tremendous with all aspects, we really appreciate him"

I would like to recommend Mr. Yang's service at TianYu Garden to anyone else going to Guangzhou.

    Mr. Yang, Thank you again!!!!

Merry Chirstmas and Happy New Year!

  3. I have some questions, C4Racer, from your experience, do my parents need to fill out any forms in the airplane before they land? If yes, what forms can I download? where may I meet my parents, before Customs or after? I would like to help my parents as much as possible because they do not understand English Language.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    Hailong

Yes, they absolutely must fill out the US Customs form. All passengers must fill out one of two forms. There is a form used by visitors and another form used by US citizens and legal permenant residents. They will use the form for citizens and LPR's. Here is a link that has a sample of the actual declaration form.

    http://www.immihelp.com/forms/6059b.pdf

It is not legible when printed out, so to help my wife's parents better, I downloaded this other form, filled it out and sent to to them. They could then use this form on the plane as a guide for filling out the real form. All they needed to do was copy the information.

    http://www.immihelp.com/forms/6059b.pdf

You may meet your parents at the exit from customs. There will be a waiting area there for any one meeting international travelers. You are not allowed passed this point. You will not be allowed to assist them through customs, but don't worry there will be translators so they will be just fine. Also, allow at least one and a half hours for them to clear customs. This is how long it took my wife's parents and other friends on their first trip when immigrating. They should be prepared to answer some simple questions, like who helped you immigrate to the US. Don't forget to remind them to hand carry the packet they got at GUZ. They must hand it in at passport control, which is just before customs.Again, don't worry, officers will help them through the process and translators are available if needed.

Once they are here, you should expect to see their green cards in about three weeks to a month.

    Again, congrats and enjoy.

    Hello C4Racer,

I really appreciate you sharing your experience with me.

    I feel very comfortable now.

As you explained, I will fill out the Customs Form and email my parents so they can copy the information to the real form on the plane.

I will also remind my parents to carry and hand in the packet that they got at GUZ at the passport control.

For the Customs, since they will not bring too much things, so it should be simpler. Anyway I will be patient to wait for my parents in the waiting area.

    Thank you again!

    Best wishes to your family!

  4. CONGRATULATIONS!!

It is always nice to hear of a family that will be reunited. I am sure it was a lot of years of not being able to see them as often as you liked, so it must be a great feeling!! Congrats again and best wishes!

    Hello xiaofeizhu,

Thank you for your Congrats and wishes! Yes, It is really nice. My 8-year-old daughter jumped on the bed, and my 6-year-old son asked me "Will my grandpa and grandma come today?" I believe to have parents living with us is a blessing for us and for our kids.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    Hailong

  5. You know, I'm somewhat envious of you, Hailong. Perhaps someday, Jingjing and I can enjoy the same thing you will soon be experiencing.

To the mods: if you want to add this to my previous post, that's fine. My time allotment to edit my previous post has expired.

    Hello Kyle,

Thank you again for all of your help!!!

With your suggestions, my parents stayed in Yang's TianYu Garden, he is such a great man helping my parents reviewing their documents, driving them for the immunization and physical exams, conducting mock interview, etc. I also asked him to receive the visa package and mail it to my parents.

I wish you, your wife Jingjing the best, if you need any information on parents immigration in the future, please feel free to contact me or drop me a PM.

This CFL is such a wonderful forum with so many great members to help each other with "A Candle for Love" in their hearts, I could not show my appreciation with my langauge limitation.

Merry Chirstmas and Happy New Year!

  6. Congrats!!! You can't ask for better news at Christmas time. The only piece left is to find them a flight to the US and enjoy having them around.

    Hello C4Racer,

Thank you again! How's your family doing? I am sure your father and mother in laws enjoy their new life.

Yes, this is the best Christmas present I ever have because my parents got their interview passed. I could not sleep until almost 1 am after I searched air tickets for my parents.

I am very glad there is an airline from PEK to Huston IAH without stop. this is an overnight ticket. I will fly Huston and meet my parents, and next day fly to my city together.

  7. Congratulations Hailong. I recently had the pleasure of having Thanksgiving dinner with C4Racer's family and meeting his father and mother in law who recently came from China. I'm very interested in their perceptions of America . Keep us posted on how they adapt to their new life.

    Hi Warpedbored,

Thank you! You did meet with C4Racer's father and mother in laws? The world is small. Isn't it? I hope my parents will enjoy their new life here in this great nation.

    Best wishes,

    Hailong

  8. Very very nice... I am happy for you. when they come this time and go back on time it will be very easy to get visa's in the future for them to visit again.

Ask Kyle he said after his wife got her first visa, her send oand 3rd ones I dont even think she interviewed for.

If I understood her correctly she sponsored her parents for an immigrant visa this last time.

    Hello Warpedbored,

You are right. This time I sponsored my parents for their immigrant visa and got passed. They were never granted B2 Visa before. I am so happy they got it this time with a better one...................

    Best wishes,

    HAilong

  9. Hi there,

Just called. My parents got PINK note this morning in GUZ. Thanks God!

Since year 2001, I tried to help my parents get B2 visa to vist us, unfortunately, my mom got refused totally 4 times since then, and my dad got refused 3 times.

After I got US citizenship this year, I began to help my parents for their immigrant visa application, it took about 5 months.

I am really grateful to this wonderful Candle Love forum. Here, I would like to especially thank the following great members for their tremendous help:

    Kyle, C4Racer, splinterman,dnoblett, smokiessky,Todd&Xilan

In addition, I would like to thank Mr. Yang at Tian Yu Garden for his selfishless help!!! I will write a new topic to thank him shortly.

Merry Chirstmas and Happy New Year!

    Hailong

  10. Not sure that it's required for everyone, but, it was for us. Actually, we previously submitted her old passport bio/sig pages (copies), when we turned in our I-130, so they already had that passport on file. The reason we turned it in at the interview, was because Jingjing had to get a new passport because her old one was nearing expiration (they did not have her new passport bio/signature pages on file).

    Hello Kyle,

Thank you so much for your wishes! My parents are in GUZ Consulate now. I will keep you posted.

For Rick's questions, I kept it in my parents document folder because it was scanned and emailed to NVC before, I assume we should bring it. However, the interviewees have to bring Passport with them, the Bio pag is in the passport, if the VO want to verify, they can check the passport.

    Best wishes!

  11. When you say: "My wife turned the following documents in before her actual interview", do you mean these documents were turned in to Chinese Worker in the Consulate before she saw the Visa Officer?

    Yes. You understood correctly.

They can try to give all of those documents to the consulate worker. The worst case scenario is that they won't accept all of them and give them back to your parents. They'll keep what they want. What they don't keep your parents can take with them when they sit for their actual interview.

    Hello Kyle,

I really appreciate your tremendous help!

I am not in GUZ with my parents. My younger sister and my nephew are with my parents. I will tell my parents to turn in their documents listed above to Consulate Worker, then keep whatever left for VO's inteview.

    Thank you again!

I wish you and your wife a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    Hailong

  12. My wife turned the following documents in before her actual interview:

Copy of Jingjing¡¯s Passport Bio/Signature page

Copy of Kyle's (mine) Passport Bio/current visa pages

Marriage Cert. Translated/Notarized Book - White book

Birth Certificate Translated/Notarized Book - White book

Police Statement Translated/Notarized Book - White book

    Kyle¡¯s I-864 and Tax Returns 2006-2008

    Dennis¡¯ I-864 and Tax Returns 2006-2008 ¨C joint-sponsor

Dennis¡¯ Letter explaining domicile & Finances ¨C Notarized copy. It was notarized because he sent this later from America, via FedEx.

Deed of the house in America ¨C Notarized copy. This was notarized for the same reason listed above.

    Physical examination results

    Kyle¡¯s Father's Current Bank Statement - joint-sponsor

The documents listed above, they took and did not give them back to my wife. I believe they kept my father's letter, house deed, and my father's current bank statement, because domicile was an issue for us. Some of the documents listed above may not be applicable to your case. The same is true for the documents found in our "cover letter" which is linked below.

I also gave Jingjing my passport. She gave mine and her's to the VO during her interview.

What will the VO ask for? Who knows - there is no set group of documents that the VO will request during your parents' interview. They tend to request documents on a case-by-case basis - filling in any questions that they may have. However, I've pretty much read everything on this site and I have noticed that passports and photos are requested on a consistent basis.

The VO didn't ask for anything from us because we heavily preloaded our I-130 application, so they actually had everything they needed.

    http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=520652

Jingjing did manage to get the VO to look at more photos, but she actually had to insist (the VO didn't want to at first, but finally gave in). Personally, I wouldn't try to do what my wife did. I would not try to talk the VO into looking at documents that they don't specifically ask for. To me, that's just inviting potential problems. Luckily, the outcome for us was still positive.

I made a little "cheat sheet" for my wife so she could quickly find any document that the VO may ask. Her English is better than most native English speakers, so there was no need to create it in Chinese, but I've known others who made one in both English and Chinese. If you'd like to see our cheat sheet, visit the below link. If you are in China, the below link will not open unless you have a VPN or other service to get around the firewall. China has blocked Google Docs.

    http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AUHozCjQ...keHI1&hl=en

The numbers before each document signify that particular folder. Jingjing and I had 11 different folders that she brought to her interview. We also made an additional copy of the cover letter to give her VO. However, she did not accept it. Hope this helps.

    Hello Kyle,

I am so thanksful to have your prompt help!

When you say: "My wife turned the following documents in before her actual interview", do you mean these documents were turned in to Chinese Worker in the Consulate before she saw the Visa Officer?

The following checklisti is for VO, I told my parents to turn these documents to the Visa Officer. Am I right? If not, what should my parents give to Chinese Worker, and What else need to give to VO during the interview.

    Thank you so much!

    Hailong

  13. Layout the steps in Word? You mean MS Word? I'm not sure what you're meaning.

The purpose of the swearing in, is to get you on record - under oath - that you will not offer dishonest information during your interview (lie)

Basically be downstairs (outside) 30 minutes before your interview. There will be a huge group of people waiting to enter the consulate. A consulate officer will come out with a megaphone and give instructions that your parents will be able to follow. This is done in Chinese.

I'm certain that your parents will not be the only ones going into the consulate at that particular time. There will be many fluent Chinese speakers available to ask questions, if they need it (most of the US consulate workers can speak Mandarin as well). Also, make sure they bring all of their documents with them to the interview. My wife forgot her passport and interview appointment letter, and I had to run up to our room and retrieve them for her.

EDIT: Your parents can find their interview time by looking at the letter provided in their packet 4 information.

    Hello Kyle,

Thank you so much for the detail information. By saying word I meant to describe the processes by English language step by step, since your wife Jingjing has done the interview process, if you could help describe the whole process using English language, it will be very helpful, for example, 1. get called into GUZ Consulate, 2. follow the group go to IMMIGRANT zone.....

    Thank you again!

    Hailong

  14.

    Hello Kyle,

Thank you so much for your prompt response! The first link is what I need. My parents will have their interview on coming Monday, they are not sure the interview processes. The Map you provided is very helpful. I will help them be familiar with the environment so that they will not be confused by these processes before they meet with the Visa interviewer.

Kyle, would you please help us layout the steps using word, such as step1, step 2.....

Another question, why there is a group swear activity?

    Thank you again!

    Hailong

  15. No, DS-3032 is to inform NVC to deal with petitioner or lawyer as an agent on behalf of the beneficiary. It is not needed at the interview.

However if doing electronic processing, the beneficiary needs to bring all beneficiary docs that were scanned and sent to NVC (Birth cert, Police Cert, Marriage Cert, I-864, etc...)

    Hello dnoblett,

You are always there when we have questions

Thank you so much for you help!

    Hailong

  16. Just got the great news from my wife, she got PINK!

I'll talk more to her in a little bit and then post a description of the interview.

Congratulations! That's really great! So happy for both of you!!!!!!!!!!
