  1. Aloha to friends at CFL. It's been a while since Emily and I last visited this forum. I finally got a job last November after almost 1 year of unemployment and we recently moved to Hayward CA...so much stuff to unpack and organize. Anyways I filed 1-751 for my son Jay back in May and today we received a Request for Evidence notice from USCIS.

    The RFE letter is asking for "Joint Documents: Please provide a joint documents showing both the parents names".

    What exactly is "Joint Documents"? What do I have to submit? Your advise is greatly appreciated!

    Clement & Emily

  2. Here's our updated I-751 timeline:

    05/31/09 - Sent I-751 petition to USCIS

    06/08/09 - Received NOA letter

    06/20/09 - Recieved ASC Biometrics Appt Letter

    07/08/09 - Biometrics Appt at the Oakland ASC

    07/25/09 - Petition to remove conditional resident APPROVED! (letter recieved on 7/31)

    07/28/09 - Card production ordered (received email status on 7/29)

    The entire process took less than 60 days. Has anyone else experienced such a fast turnaround? 2 years ago I had a friend that went thru' the same process...it took 13 months for her to get the approval! Is USCIS really getting more efficient?

    Today Emily received her brand spanking new 10-year green card. From the day I sent the I-751 petition till today with the green card in hand - 64 Days total. Next March I'll be petitioning for my son's I-751. Hopefully it'll go as uneventful and as fast as this one.

    Here's the cover letter I used for Emily's I-751 petition. Perhaps it'll help anyone preparing to file I-751....

    Good luck to all going thru' the I-751 process!

  3. Yes i do know of one myself.

    Thought they are not members of CFL.

    My wife has two friend here in the U.S. Now.

    Both are K-3 visa.

    One has not even gotten her two year GC as of today.

    this is mostly because of husband is a bumb.

    Not the second friend has her 2 years GC and going through AOS.

    Husband is a good man and paid all the fees and summited all papaers.

    As of today, It has been 14 months and still no GC.

    Not sure if it is a K-3 or a CR-1 thing but it looks like the CR-1 Is winning the horse race by a mile.

    Clement & Emily' had a very fast turn around and is CR-1 as we are too.

    If the time frame is close to the same, We should hear something next week on our CR-1 (I-751)

    Mike/Hong

    Last week I told Emily her 10 year GC would probably take at least 6 to 9 months to get approval not because anything was wrong but just the way USCIS works. ;)

    Today she said my estimation was way wrong but then I reminded her what an outstanding character of man her husband is...hence the fast turnaround :lol:

  4. Here's our updated I-751 timeline:

    06/08/09 - Received NOA letter

  5.

    This is great news.

    My wife just did her Bios this month 7/24/09.

    Just look at USCIS web sit and already been touched yesterday.

    Hopefully ours g as fast as yours.

    BTW: Congrats and enjoy.

    Mike/Hong

    Thanks Mike! I'm sure yours are speeding along as well!

    One more thing...we were pleasantly surprised by the efficient service and polite/positive attitude encountered at the Oakland Application Support Center. Many years ago I had my biometrics appt at the same ASC and was treated like a second class citizen. Very glad my wife didn't have to go thru' that.

  6. On 5/31/09 - exactly 90 days before my wife's 2 year green card expires we mailed the I-751 form and all supporting documents to USCIS.

    On 6/8/09 we received the NOA letter (I-751 Receipt Notice).

    On 6/20/09 we received the ASC Appointment Notice. Wife's Biometrics was scheduled for 7/18/09.

    I accompanied Emily to the Application Support Center at Oakland. In and out within 20 minutes, no lines at all!

    This morning (7/29/09) we received an email update from CRIS:

  7. Thanks for posting your experience. We're going to be staying there starting tomorrow, so I hope we'll have a good experience with the Yangs too.

    The Yangs will take good care of you folks...as they did for us 28 months ago! Send our warmest regards to Mr. and Mrs. Yang...and the baby too!!

  8. Hi everyone.....Rong is wanting to get a soy milk machine to make her own soy milk. Has anyone else here purchased one and what are your recommendations for this? I have searched the internet for this and have found many of these machines, but the more i read and look at the machines, the more confused i get about it. Don't know which way to go with it or which one to get. Your experience and advise with these will be greatly appreciated. thanks....Steve

    This is one of the best (Joyoung CTS1038 2.4 Liter Filterless Soy Milk Maker) - http://english.hsuginseng.com/product/Prod...ctsID=107838470

    We've been using it for the past 6 months and loved it. It makes 2.4 liters of rich and creamy soy milk or any other types of nuts you put in.

  9. Just like everyone else waiting at the airport for their friends & families, you'll have to wait at the gates of the arrival hall.

    Does anyone know, if you do not fly back to the States with your SO, when you meet her in the POE airport can you physically wait with her until her interview, or will they keep you separated until after her interview is over? Just curious about this in case I am only able to pick her up and not fly to China to get her...

  10. It seems to me when the VO ask those silly questions, he/she is attempting to test/read the interviewee's response- not how the question is answer but rather how the interviewee reacts to the question(s) via body language, facial expression, non verbal clues...etc.

    Sometimes what you didn't say speaks the loudest and unfortunately some VO may use it against the interviewee...fair or unfair. Just IMO.

    Hello Wendy,

    Just had say that. Either way thanks a lot. And as to the question there was only three question she could not answer the rest were answer except the speed was a bit slow. What high school I went to? What college I attended? What year did I buy my car?

  11. We are finally ready to file for AOS. On the I-485, it asks for the: "Current USCIS Status". What is that?

    - Her current USCIS status should still be K-1 if is within 90 days

    Also, it asks for the "Nonimmigrant Visa Number". I thought the K1 was an immigrant visa.

    - K-1 is a Non-Immigrant visa (http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html)

    There is a number (A# 882-----) written in on her passport under the stapled I-94. Is this the Alien Registration Number.

    There is no such number on her son's passport.

    - You are correct, K-2 has no A#. The A# will only be issued when you file AOS for your SO's son.

    Thanks.

  12. Here are my opinions (in red) below...blunt but to the point...

    Within 2 weeks of the first email, my GF was already talking about Marriage, She loved me, Wants to come to my home forever.

    - That's a RED flag to me

    Do Chinese woman use the word love and mean something different that what men in the US consider the word love ? My GF speaks no English whatsoever. All our emails are thru her translator.

    - A matured Chinese woman don't just proclaim her love for someone over the web within such a short time

    About 4 weeks into our emails, she says she wants to take English Lessons from her translator and asks if I could help her with cost. She asked for $440 USD a month for lessons.

    - That's a BIG RED FLAG: asking for money from someone she has never met & proclaimed her love to that man 2 weeks before...

    At this point in the relationship, I said no, but did buy her the complete Rosetta Stone English course which I sent to her and was received.

    - Very wise of you to do this!

    Last month I got a email saying that her monthly income was 2400 Yaun. Her translator was charging her $2.00 UDS for each 400 Chinese Characters and that her lat month translation fare was 1800 Yaun. She asks if I can help her with translation costs.

    - Again, trying to extract money from your wallet.

    Emails;

    I have tried to share all about my life, my hobbies, what I like to do, in other words get her into conversation so both of us could learn more about each other.

    Her emails are empty, sharing very little about her. Yet, in most cases she will answer any question I have. Since early October till now, I really dont know much more than I did in the first emails. She does not open up and talk about her life, her dreams, her wants, her future. She just wants to marry me and live a life of "happiness and harmony"

    - My wife said this woman just want a green card and you are her potential ticket.

    Her Pictures;

    For a person apparently not having a good income, she has sent me a lot of pictures, professionally done, reworked with Photoshop (exif file shows photoshop)

    Pictures that look like a Glamour Shoot for a woman's magazine. They are beautiful, she is stunning. How can she afford these pictures and not be able to afford emails ?

    - If you want to waste your time, ask her for some recent and dated regular day-to-day photos.

    Money;

    I m retired, built a beautiful home complex in northern Maine. I built a large Greenhouse for my exwife. My GF wants to grow flowers, I told her the greenhouse would be hers, yet no talk as if she were excited. I live well, build serious 4x4 trucks as a hobby. Yet, I must watch my expenses as I am on a fixed retirement income along with my investments. In reading Candle for Love, I note that many of you have made many trips to China, gifts, Visa costs. In projecting costs to bring my GF tot he US, I can see at least $30,000.00 USD or more. Is this somewhere near correct ?

    - If loosing $30,000 is not an issue to you, perhaps breaking your heart down the road is something you might want to avoid.

    Marriage;

    My GF suggests one trip to Beijing to meet for a few weeks, then start the K1 Process. I suggested we cant fall in love for life in just 2 weeks, we cant even talk to each other. She said she will bring a electronic translator. She said " I be a good wife, I not cause you problem" She is in such a rush to get the K1 process started and get married ? How many trips did most of you guys make before you asked your GF to marry you ?

    - I've made 4 trips to China in total. I started K-1 process 14 months after the 1st visit. To me, rushing to start the K-1 process for someone you hardly knew doesn't make sense at all.

    English Lessons;

    My GF says she works from 7am to 10 pm and is to tired to study the Rosetta Stone English. She says she will learn English in the "future". She eludes that the future is after she is in the US. OOOPS ! She says our eyes, hands and her electronic translator will let us communicate until she learns English. I just bought Rosetta Stone Chinese to try to learn some Chinese. Wow, what a tough language to learn.

    It could be years before my GF could join in conversation with our friends or even with just me. Can this be made to work ?

    - Sounds like she has no intention on developing a meaningful relationship with you until after she arrived in U.S. Maybe that's not important to you...

    Culture;

    I live in northern Maine, winters are terrible cold, 35 below zero are accepted, she is from South China, what a world of difference. I live remote, its a 150 mile round trip to a large city. Up here, its more of a frontier life, you make your own entertainment, especially in the winter. Two people really have to be compatible to survive. My GF has knitted me a scarf for Christmas, its in the mail now. She really seems to care.

    - From what I've read so far, you are a hopeless romantic looking for love and someone was about to mail you a scarf "Made In China" widely available in clothing stores everywhere or from Walmart China.

    K1 Interview;

    All we have is emails to show a relationship. If I did agree to only one meeting in Beijing, we have little to show for a real relationship and her interview/K1 might be rejected as a possible marriage fraud. Then all this money and time is lost and emotional feelings. We are both hurt. I dont want my GF hurt.

    - Think about protecting yourself first...

    My GF reply to any question I raise on all the above concerns is " I be good wife,I not cause you problem". "We have happiness and harmony"

    - Generic answers to specific questions = I'm not interested in addressing any concerns you have...just get me out of China.

    My head is spinning, Thanks for your thought...Sorry for the long post

    - Take a deep breath and try see this from a different perspective. Imagine your 18 year old son is telling you this story about a Chinese woman he met online under the same circumstances.

  13. Hello again all-- :doorscared:

    SO, we're thinking of having MR. YANG (or other trustworthy services?) to pick up his visa and having him mail it to my husband so my husband can go home. Hotel prices are SUCKING the money we'd be spending on a plane ticket all up-- and both of us are tight on money...can't see spending another $200 USD on hotel stays and still guarantees.

    Anyone know how to use Mr. Yang's services and how it works, how safe it is...

    THanks so much!!!!

    We stayed at one of Mr. Yang's 2 bedroom apartment for 10 days last year March. Mr. Yang is humble, respectful and trustworthy. Give him a call and tell him what you need.

  14. You've found CFL!!!! This is the best (China specific) visa service there is, AND its FREE! The people here are great and are very willing to help you with questions you have with the forms. Hey, if I can do this by myself (with help from CFL), anyone can!

    Good Luck!

    I will definitely be using this site as much as possible.

    ((Husband's parents are very well off and are offering to pay so i'm not going to complain LOL))

    We use APEX VISA Service (www.apexvisa.us) last year. Gerry is a great guy and will jump thru' hoops to help you. If money is not a concern to you and you want someone to hold your hand thru' this process, go ahead and use APEX.

    It is stated on APEX web site and I am sure you are aware, there is no guarantee your SO will get a VISA - the members here at CFL will tell you the same thing. You can only prepare as much as you can and leave no stone unturned. If you decide to use APEX, listen/read and do EXACTLY what Gerry tells you...he provides very specific instructions. We did.

  15. We just "entered" the US this AM, via Honolulu. Of course people couldn't be more friendly than in Hawaii -- but there are so many "Japanese" coming on vacation - it get's hectic - and sometimes little pieces of information are not conveyed.

    I had decided on the plane - that I would in fact go with Jin through the "foreigners" side of in processing. What one should do in Honolulu, is go towards the #5 sign, which is on the extreme LEFT after entering the reception hall. DON'T GET IN ANY LINE. Go directly to the brown/wood colored desks and take out your package and lay it on the desk. If you have it in your hand, they will come to you. (I saw them re-direct about 25 Japanese visitors - so that they could process the 4 people besides us, that had envelops in their hands. Also, if you see a ton of people filling out GREEN I94 forms -- don't even think about it...not needed, wrong form. They provide a White I94 for immigration/K1.

    The above - will save you at least 15 mintues. Once all the above was provided and straight - the Officer asked for the "Xray". I would've never thought to have it with us at the POE if I had not read it here on CFL. "Don't leave the home country without it".

    The Officer - when complete - was about the most friendliest, helpful, and kind man (Japanese American) I have met lately (of course I've been in CHina for almost 2 years). He was very kind, respectful, and patient with Jin, and took great pains to ensure that we understood everything - and once he knew I was local - he used Hawaiian Directions - to ensure that I knew where each separate part of the ducmentation was kept - and why. (Hawaiian directions are sort of - next door to old Leper Hospital - or Ewa of resturant row - besides the dock wharehouses--have to have been here a long time to understand some of them).

    The then gave us copies of all forms to file for AP, EAD, and AOS. I was pleasantly shocked - and he review our customs forms - i.e. asked the pertinent questions -- signed and stamped it -- THEN we gathered our luggage and each person after that just waived us through. Twenty minutes tops...took longer for me to get the rental car. (Long Story - gave my last car to my daughter and son-in-law as it was almost new, paid for, and just sitting rotting in my parking garage)

    Jin's crashed -- she's never taken an overnight flight so I just moved on to hook up the high speed modem from Road Runner - and will move on to the HD and Music systems interface in a minute. JIN's has 3 or 4 "FIRST IMPRESSIONS" of Hawaii, (1) Beautiful water, sun is very hot, and flowers/trees very pretty, and why do we need 300 TV Channels - which include 45 Movie + 1 CHinese CHannel ? (2) 85% (her estimate) of all the people are Asian - it's just like being in CHina she says...(without the spitting, crazy driving, smoking, and littering - I say), (3) She was really shocked at the Ala Moana Shopping Center "Makai Market" (Food Court), several of every variety of Asian-Country Specific Fast Food - including "buns" just like in ShangHai, or An Hui -- which she declared to be appropriate for eating in the morning, (Wait till she see's Chinatown and 99 Market) and (4) "Everything is so Clean"....!

    Sorry for the novel - really just wanted to let everyone know how to save some time at the HNL POE.

    Hawaii Mike & NOW JIN

    Aloha and welcome home Mike and Jin! I lived in Oahu for 12 years before moving to the Bay Area. I really missed the Aloha State...

    IMO, Hawaii is the best place for your Jin to start her new life in U.S. As you've mentioned the food is great, people are very friendly and the weather is always fantastic even when it rains in Manoa. BTW, 99 Ranch Market unexpectedly went out of business last year March. I found that out when Emily and I visited Honolulu 3 months ago. Also, my all time favorite "Masu Massive Plate Lunch" restaurant closed permanently on 2/28/2007¡very sad indeed. However there¡¯s still Zippy¡¯s and Sam Choy¡¯s ¡°Breakfast, Lunch and Crab¡±!

    Mahalo Nui Loa...

  16. DARN! HAHA I accidentally posted before done.

    Anyhow, the old Navy saying: "hurry up and wait" has taken on a whole new meaning. And believe me-- it fits the immigration process WAY more than it did the Navy.

    If anyone wants to see our pics (which I don't have posted here yet)...please follow this link to visajourney:

    http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/thumbna...5328&page=1

    BTW, we're expecting too!! 15 weeks now and he'll be here for the rest of the preg and the birth!

    )on cloud nine now-- or perhaps...still in shock(

    Thanks for sharing the very nice pictures. Good job and congrats on your preg as well as the approved visa. Wishing your family all the best & a speedy reunion.
