  1. Thanks Credzba and Randy for your response. So, the green card becomes the re-entry visa, interesting. I guess it is a crap shot depending on many factors how long it will take. I did find out that SFO is one of the most efficient POE. My friends tell me there is a video camera that monitors the people as they come out of customs. So they can park the car and wait inside and look for us on the video monitors. So, I don't have to worry about coordinating what time to pick us up at the street. I told them maybe around one hour after arrival time should be close, more or less. Now we can begin a new chapter in our lives in the USA. Thanks again
  2. Dear CFL, My journey started in Aug 2007 when I came to China and married my wife at age 70. I am now 73, three birthdays and three cold winters in N. China. Totally failed our K-3 interview, not valid relationship. Wife passed interview for CR-1 but blue slip for better docs. NVC had approved all paperwork, but GUZ wanted better docs for my retirement and not filing income tax and official IRS transcripts for my co-sponsor. Really didn't need co-sponsor, my house is paid for. But, you know, GUZ makes up its own rules. Finally got approval for visa, but for some reason had to get to USA by Feb 16. My wife's medical dated 08/18/2009. Police report good till July, 2010. I thought medical good for a year like police report? Anyway, my wife waited in Guangzhou for passport but office was closed on Friday, the promised day to pick up. Lot of people angry, some had booked airfare that weekend. My wife had to pay an attorney $150 to pick up her papers and mail them to us. Now we have thick packet of sealed papers and passport with visa good until Feb 16. We are booked on Asiana Air, arrive in SFO, San Francisco Airport on Feb 14. The plane lands at 10 am on Sunday. Does anyone know how long it will take to process my wife through immigration and customs? I have friends coming to pick us up. Just trying to give them an idea what time we will be outside with our stuff. The good news is that we made it. An old person living on Soc. Sec. like me and did not need to hire an attorney. Also got a IR-1 since we are married more than two years. My wife will have to return to China to settle her affairs. She has to sell her house. Is it OK to return with an IR-1? Thanks in advance, Chris
  3. Hi Forum My wife had interview on Sep 10 for Form I-130. My wife did well and passed interview and proved our marriage. She does not need another interview unless requested. VO was a young man. Got a blue slip because lacking info on my taxes and my cosponsor tax records. NVC had approved all paperwork before they forwarded them to GUZ. So, I did not know I had a problem. I live on Soc Sec and SSI. I do not need to file income tax because of my low income. I had my social security statements included at interview, but VO kept insisting on W2's, 1099's and 1040's. Not everyone files for income tax. All I can do is resubmit statements from SSA on amounts they paid me last 3 tax years. Hope this is not a catch 22 to prevent me qualifying as petitioner. GUZ totally ignored the fact my house is paid for. Technically I don't even need a cosponsor. According to application you can use assets in lieu of income. Learned about needing a cosponsor from failed K-3 interview. GUZ insisted on income to qualify and not assets as stated on application. They make up their own rules. The good news I heard while waiting was that the big black woman VO that failed my wife for the K-3 is no longer there!!! The other thing was they insisted on my cosponsor provide certified tax returns for last three years. This takes about two to three months wait for the IRS to process. Should be coming soon. They also wanted a statement by my cosponsor as to why he is willing to sponsor my wife. I am changing my cosponsor. My original one took ill and lost his job. I hope it is OK to change your cosponsor? I hope my SSA papers are OK? I wonder why the blue slip says Ir1 visa instead of Cr1 visa? What is Ir1 visa? I hope I am not rambling on. I will be 73 next month. I married my wife in Aug 2007. This will be my third winter in N. China. After being a bachelor for 20 years, I am lucky to find true love at this stage of my life Chris
  4. Hi All CFL'S This is my first post. My wife has her CR1 interview to be on Sep 8. The interview was first scheduled for Aug, but was a bad time for her. I had no problem delaying the interview date by email. I arrived in China on Aug 23, 2007, and married my wife on Aug 27, 2007. After 90 emails, I knew she was the one for me. We did lots of stupid things and did not get the K3 visa a year ago. This time we are more prepared. I now have a co-sponsor because even though my house is free and clear, my retirement income is insufficient. It says in writing you can use your assets, but I guess that doesn't mean anything. I have celebrated two birthdays in China and I am now 72 and my wife is 56. At my age, everyday with my new love is a blessing. I hope to arrive in Guangzhou in time to go to the ACH I just read about. It will be a 24 hour train ride. Everything seems to be booked because of some kind of student holiday or something? English is really difficult for my wife, especially when she gets nervous in front of the vo. My wife couldn't even remember her marriage date for the K3 interview. Is there any chance my wife can have the interview in English? Or, will that work against us because they said we don't have a bonefied relationship because we could not communicate. Now after two years of me being in China, can they still make the same argument? My wife has been taking English lessons and I can speak some Chinese. We communicate just fine. Thanks, Chris
