1. I am the other one. Our case takes more than a year. But finally we made it! So just hang it there and be really patient.
2. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!
3. Hi guys, I am back! My fiance has arrived in USA and we've got married in March and got SSN for him. Now we are ready to start AOS but not sure which forms we need to fill. Do you know where I can find some instructions on how to begin AOS? Thank you very much!!! Nathalie
4. I am so excited. Finally someone agrees with me. I do think two months is a long wait. But somehow my fiance's parents and his friends think it is nothing. They feel since we have been waiting for 7 years, another 2 months is nothing.
5. Dear friends, my finance has got K1 visa last week and is planning to come on Jan 13. Thank you very much for all your support. Without your help and encouragement, we probably wouldn't make it this far. Now that we 've got the visa, I am just wondering what the next step is. To make it even more complicated, my fiance's brother is getting married in March. Is it possible that we can go back to China for his brother's wedding? Do you think we will have enough time to apply for advance parole? Can he apply for SSN now or we have to wait until he gets here? Does he need to have SSN before we can get married? Thank you!!!
6. Called DOS again just to make sure GUZ did not request another name check...so far none!!! The lady told me GUZ had received the information on Nov 4th and asked me to call back on Wednesday to find out whether GUZ will issue a visa or not...I am so excited and nervous now....
7. Congratulations!!!! My fiance's name check was also completed on Oct 27th. I am going back to visit him in 3 weeks and will stay in China for about 4 weeks. Hopefully I can bring him back with me.
8. Rick is correct. Your case has been going on so long i forgot you already had the interview. Good luck. Well, let's hope the upcoming holidays(Thanksgiving and Christmas) will make GUZ happy and be more generous to us!!!
9. Not fully awake yet--too early in the morning for me. I stand fully corrected. Your file is already at GUZ. IluvmyLi is correct. But my fiance already had an interview with them last year. Do you think they will schedule another interview? I thought they just need to review the information DOS collected and make a decision on whether to give us a visa or not. Getting confused now.
10. Congrats Nat! That's great news! However, it's going to be 2 months before GUZ receives the forwarded petition. So you have a while to wait before you start calling GUZ/DoS again. Maybe I should start emailing GUZ everyday then.
11. I called DOS 20 minutes ago and was told the name check was completed on 10/27 and the information has been sent to GUZ!!!! I am so excited now. Hopefully we will hear some good news from GUZ soon. The representative that I talked to did warn me that it doesn't mean the case has been completed. After GUZ reviews the information, they could request another name check. But nonetheless, I think it is good news. At least our case is moving forward. What should I do now? Should I keep calling DOS everyday to find out what the next step is or should I contact GUZ?
12. I call DOS every day and have got used to hear the same answer that our case is still pending. Well, today I heard something different. When I called, the lady told me we got an interview date. I could tell she was happy when telling me that. But before I got a chance to say anything, she said, "oh...it was for last year.." so heart-breaking...it just reminds me again how long our case has been stucked.....
13. Compared to my case, yours is not that bad. I am sure you will hear some good news from GUZ soon.
14. call DOS, email GUZ, email your senators..and be patient...
15. Yes. The name check expired since our case has taken more than 1 year now. I was told by DOS that the new name check could take up to 3 months and because of my fiance's communist membership, this time they are going to REALLY check it. I am going to call DOS everyday and hopefully it will push them a little. I am planning my trip to China in November and I surely will like to bring him back with me. We are actually thinking about having the wedding ceremony in November. But since I only have three weeks vacation, we might not have time for honeymoon at all. Feel sad. GUZ definitely screw up my wedding plans. We were supposed to get married last year.
16. I called DOS yesterday and was told as of August 17th, GUZ had requested a new background check. I called DOS again today and was told as of September 5th, our case is still under administrative process. I am now just confused. What is the difference between the two?
17. Tell me about it, two years plus....... 239595 Now I just hope the security check and the CPC check(whatever they need to do) would take place in parallel... I hope this time it will not take another three months before we hear something from GUZ again...
18. Should I email GUZ instead to find out more details? It is hard to get information from either GUZ or DOS... 239238 I think calling DOS is the best way... Even if they can say that the CPC checks are still going on [possibly outside of GUZ] would be good to know... Once this stuff is outside of GUZs hand, nobody really has an answer anyway.. but good to know if it's still going through anything... 239254 Just called DOS again and was informed that as of August 21, the CPC issue is still there...they are still working on it...
19. Let me know if that works. Personally I think bribery might work better.
20. Should I email GUZ instead to find out more details? It is hard to get information from either GUZ or DOS...
21. This sounds like a REAL GOOD THING. The name check done at NVC expired in July, they have blue slipped you 3 times for the same stuff and it has been returned. The only thing I can think that would cause them to request an updated name check would be they need it updated to issue a visa as you have overcome their objections. Also, since you were in and out of NVC in what looks to be 2 weeks (confusing timeline, I don't think NVC approves petitions) this shouldn't take long. Don't be depressed, get to cleaning the house!!!! 239207 Thank you all for your support. It does make me feel much better now. I have been worried a lot about my fiance's former communist membership. If this background check is the last step for this long journey, I certainly will be very very happy and I can deal with waiting for another 1 or 3 months.
22. I just called DOS today and was told that GUZ requested a new background investigation on my fiance which will take another 30-90 days. I am so depressed now. How much longer should we wait? Does anybody here know why they need to do another background check? Does it mean the case will be sent back to Washington? Thank you!
23. hehe...I asked GUZ why they sent us blue sheet to request the resume again and they responded yes they sent the blue sheet... This is worse than a canned response.
24. Sorry you’re having such a bad time?it’s the result of a government that is accountable to no one. I don’t have any experience in dealing with GUZ but I have many experiences in dealing with stupid government agencies... irs, veteran’s dept, etc... I have found this approach to work best for me. Give them an “evolution of your case?in outline form Documents provide at interview 01/01/01 1) document a 2) document b 3) etc Documents requested and provided at overcome A 01/01/01 1) Document c 2) Document d 3) Document a (again) Documents requested and provided at overcome B 01/01/01 CC: DOS, Maura Hardy, Washington DC You get the point... have your SO take it to the next overcome with what they requested (yes same thing) and send a copy of your "evolution" to DOS in Washington. Now?everyone can see what has been submitted at each meeting. I will bet they will not ask for the same document again. Good luck to you. 229671 Thank you Stephen. This is a good point. We will submit all documents again. After I calm down, now I think I might know why GUZ requests for resume again. The information we provided in the first resume is out-dated. After we submitted the first resume, my fiance quitted his job so that he can spend more time to learn English. How could we forget to update GUZ!!! Now I am angry at myself.
