  1. We've been waiting to receive Lily's new Greencard which expires in December. She had gone to biometrics by herself back in July and I was getting a little concerned.

What I didn't know was they had put this sticker on the back of her current GC at the biometrics appointment in July.

Wonder why they do this (extending expiration by approximately 7 months) instead of mailing a new one? Is USCIS running behind in their processing?

  2. A little confused guys............from the I-90

Did you enter the United States with an immigrant visa?

Immigrant visas are processed and issued by the U.S. Consulate in a foreign country. If you received your Green Card by applying for permanent resident status after you entered the United States, then you did not enter with an immigrant visa.

    Yes

    No

I thought GUZ issued the immigrant Visa and we sent the I-485 to Chicago after Lily got here.

  3. Hey everyone - haven't been on for a while and glad to see CFL is still here helping with the process. Lily's 10 year green card will expire Dec 2019 and I was just wondering if we get a renewal notice from USCIS or do we need to start the process now. I just read NUWORLD's post and I'm sure all your answers will help, but just wondering if it's time to take action or wait for USCIS?

    Thanks,

    Hank

  4. My son, James graduated from UW Seattle, on time, this past Wednesday. He majored in Econ. Eight short years ago, he and his mother arrived in the USA, and he spoke very little English. Don't know how they do it.! His mother and I are very proud of him. ...........

    PS......He already has a job!

  5. Happy Anniversary to my beautiful wife Lily. Eight years ago today we were married in Shenzhen, China and life has been wonderful ever since. I love this sweet woman more than ever.

Coincidentally, 7 years ago today, Lily passed her interview in GUZ, and at that time we met Dan and Yu, two wonderful friends, who we have fond memories of during our time there.

  6. Thanks, Dan. Lily ordered an italk box on a free trial basis. She bargained with italk and says we got a good deal compared to Dish. I'm assuming it'll work the same as my Roku.........we'll see............... I'll give a report when it's up and running'.

  7. Thinking of cancelling "Great Wall Package" at Dish Network and getting italkbb tv. We already have italkbb VOIP service and Lily says the TV will be much cheaper than Dish which I am

currently paying 22.99 per month for. I can't figure the price on italk's website, so does anyone else have it? If so, about what is the price per month? Also, if you have it, how do you like it?

    Thanks,

    Hank

  8. Lily and I had a great trip back in June-July. My daughter had recently moved to Leavenworth WA so

After Wikipedia told me that she lived on the Amtrak Route, and me being a train buff, we decided to book a Roomette on Amtrak's "Empire Builder".

Flew from Knoxville to Chicago Ohare and then took the Blue Line "L" from Ohare to Union Station .

Had enough time to walk the area around Union Station and the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) before boarding.

Great train Trip, Great Scenerey through Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and Washington.

Most memorable was having Dinner in the dining car with a couple from Australia as we were rolling through Glacier National Park.

43 hours later rolled in to Leavenworth where daughter and son in law were waiting to pick us up. Toured the Leavenworth - Wenatchee area and the Cascades. Beautiful Country

after our stay in the Leavenworth - Wenatchee WA area, our son James drove over from UW- Seattle picked us up, and we stayed with him a few days and toured the Seattle and Vancouver areas.

    Also a beautiful place.

Flew back to Knoxville from Seattle. Not as much fun or as scenic as the train, but a whole lot quicker.

    Edit: Spelling

  9. In the end it worked out fine.

I had made an infopass appointment to try to re-schedule the interview so he could spend his entire Christmas at home with his mom and me. On second thought we decided it wasn't worth taking the chance so

I cancelled the infopass and changed the airline reservation to get him back to Seattle in time to interview as scheduled.

  10. Oh boy, how life can get complicated when children go off to college away from home.

I would suspect that USCIS assumes Seattle is HOME so do not take into account that the applicant may be out of town for the holidays.

I would probably do another info pass and ask, if they refuse to change appointment for a convenient time, then probably rearrange his travel to TN until after the interview.

Thanks, Dan, Didn't think about infopass again, I was going to have him mail his request for reschedule date.

.................Just scheduled him an infopass for next monday. We'll see...............

  11. Good to hear you got that sorted out.

thanks for the infopass advice, Dan, it seemed to have worked. It's good James was in Seattle, where they have a USCIS office 20 minutes from his dorm, as opposed to Knoxville, where we would have had to drive 7 hours to Memphis if we wanted an Infopass.

Sounds like he is becoming a regular customer of that office.

It's like Norm walking in to Cheers
