  1. I need help on filling in the I-485. In part one, the very last column, it asks for the expiration date. What date are they asking for? its very vague. Not sure if it is the date on the I-94, or the K-1 visa or just what date. Thanks for the help in advance.
  2. Any one had the following on their fiances visa? Class A or B(TB) Req. Attn. of USPHS at POE" Not sure what the implications of this is going to be. My fiance when she had her medical had to have some extra TB testing ( the test delayed the interview by about 2 months) but she was able to receive her visa , ( in the mail today) But before I buy the plane tickets, I hope I can have some info about what this means if someone has seen it before. Thanks.
  3. Good new, my fiance had her interview today, September 28 Guangzhou local time and she was told the happy new!!!! She was the 3rd person in her line to have the interview this morning, and she said that the first two people ahead of her were rejected for the Fiance visa, so she was a little worried. ( I think she was surprised at that, because she never seemed to want to listen to my worries about the GZ consulate) Sorry I haven't posted much on this site, but I have sure used it to try to find some answers. We had several big problems along the way, including a missed interview date, and also a almost 2 month delay on top of that because she was flagged with having had TB, so they needed to run some tests. She will be picking up her visa either tomorrow or the next day, ( I wasn't quite sure, as she was very excited, so it became difficult to understand her) Hurray!!!! I will have to try to figure out how to fill in the timeline of events on this site, for others reference if some one can point me in that direction, but of coarse, it would have to wait a few days.
  4. Of coarse, I plan on doing both: 1: having my family make some video that I can take to China to show her family about my family, ( to wish us the happy wedding also) 2: To make some video recording while I'm in China of her family and our party, to show to my family in America ( and later to our children also, when we have them) Although my Fiance currently lives in GZ, here family lives in Hengyang countryside, so maybe the technology there isn't as current as in GZ (I don't know) But I am assuming from what you all are telling me, if I have my family make those DVD's using Region 0 - then it would work fine everywhere? And it should be PAL ??? is this easy to do? unfortunately I live in a extremely small community, with very limited resources, but I hope my family, who will have to make some of the video can get it right for me.
  5. My fiance wants me to bring some DVD video to play at our Chinese (pre- wedding) party/reception because our wedding will be state side. Any way, she would like me to bring some DVD or video of my family members to play for her family at our reception. I may be confused, but I believe that the DVD formats are different between the USA and China. IF my family members use their camcorder to make the DVD or video, will it play on a DVD player in China? Need help and options soon, because if every thing goes right, my Fiance will have her interview on Sept 28, ( long story there) and I intend to go help her move here shortly after that. Options I am considering. DVD?, Mpeg? Email website like facebook ect? using flash drives to take with me?? Need help? Any one know about DVD standards/machines in China vs USA?
  6. At one time, I thought I could maybe piggy back her cloths on one of my inlaws-inlaw shippments from China, but it appears that he has mostly stopped purchasing from China for his stores. Seems he's found that he can exploit the Vietnamese for cheaper then the Chinese.... and now he's even thinking about exploiting the people in Africa Guess some things never change... Probably won't be long till everything we by has a label saying " Made in Vietnam" instead. I will have to have my fiance try to verify the costs with China Post. It maybe ultimately be the simplest. I guess, 25 RMB per Kilo would be about 2 USD per pound. I guess that's not so bad. I am just glad she doesn't have any furniture worth sending. Lots of cloths though, and shoes.
  7. What are the best ways to send my fiance's cloths and other items from China to the USA???? I need to start thinking about this very soon!!! What methods are people currently using for best prices?? {edit} Topic Title Spelling Correction
  8. I use skype to call my fiance in China 10 dollar per month Unlimited calls
  9. I need some advice !!!! I received the information this morning, that my fiance has missed her interview date, because she did not receive her P4 package ( due to a mix up) until today ( after her scheduled appointment). I am frantic and she is frantic, and I do not have much faith in my lawyer!!! My fiance mailed her P-3 to the consulate on June 4, 2009, and apparently the Consulate mailed her P-4 to her on June 17. My fiance can not receive her mail at her residence, so she has to have her mail sent to her best friends, business, but apparently, one of her friends employees, did not notify her that the P-4 had been received, until today. ( two days after the scheduled interview date) Both myself and my fiance were surprised by the speed of the Consulate in sending the P-4 and I am also surprised of the shortness of the time between having sent P-3 and the scheduled interview. I need some help and advice!!!! Thanks
  10. I think I need to have my fiance practice answering the type of questions she is likely to be asked at the interview. has anyone assembled a list of questions typically asked at the interview that can be used as practice for my fiancee? Her english is not perfect, and while she is pretty good at telling me things she wants to tell me, she doesn't always understand questions when they are asked of her in english, and having her practice answering sample questions may be useful. Thanks
  11. I have a question about the P4-interview date? How is the interview date set? Is my fiance just assigned a date and is the date of the interview notified in the P-4 package when it arrives? Is there a way to find the interview date via internet or phone? if so? How?
  12. I hate to burst your bubble, but if you think that your conversations within the USA, to your neighbor, or mother, etc isn't being monitored, your delusional. All of your cell phone calls in the USA are monitored, and they have a gps position of where you are also!!! What country do you think developed all of the software and hardware necessary to do all the spying????? it wasn't china that developed it!!!!
  13. Just curious, if you both are in Canada, why do you want to come to the USA? How hard would it be to get her Canadian Citizenship?, and for yourself?
  14. Can't say I agree. For me, Disney was never about Mickey... Mickey and Minnie have really been gone since... the 50's... just people liking Nostalgia really cared about that.... You better not let my fiance hear you say that Disney isn't about Mickey Mouse!!!!!!!
  15. After reading the article, I came away with the impression that the so called Consular wanted to be a law unto himself, and that he though he could single-handedly divine the thoughts or motives of everyone who walked through his doors. I thought the USA was supposed to be a country of laws, not a dictatorship where the dictators whims decides life or death. Reading the Consular's article, It sound like he sees himself as a dictator. I am still fairly early in the process, but honestly, looking at what is happening in the USA, with the current President & Congress, and the financial system and all of the financial fraud, I am starting to ask myself if I really want to live in the USA if it continues down its current path, let alone bring my fiance here? Given the current path the country is taking, 5 years from now, China might look like a pretty nice place to live, and it really saddens me to be saying this.
  16. I don't know if this will help anyone or not, but one thing that I am doing for my fiance while I wait is this: When I write a email to her, I also read the email to her and send it to her in the form of a MP3 attached to the email. (sometimes I will also record her emails as MP3's and return them to her also.) Anyway, I think it is helping. (at least her english is vastly improving). I dont know if its the MP3, or the twice daily phone calls, or just a lot of work on her part, but I am amazed at how much her English has improved since I first started talking to her. Anyway, I hope this helps anyone. ( I am just using a MP3 player to make the recordings, then sending them to her as attachments).
  17. I am using Skype to make my calls to my fiance in China. I am using the unlimited calling plan for 10 USD per month and it is saving me much money. I used to have troubles with Skype, but I am now usually getting a very clear signal. My fiance is using a cell phone and I am using skype. If you read the skype list of countries, it lists China as being able to connect to both the cell phones and the land lines using the unlimited calling plan. When I first started talking to my fiance, I was using Verizon at $0.15, then I started using the Skype $.02 cents per minute and now I'm at 10 Dollars a month. Currently I am calling my sweetheart twice a day, for about 30 minutes in the morning before I go to work, and then when I come home from work in the evening. Skype's low rate has been a life saver for me, and my wallet. I hope it can help yours also.
  18. Thanks for all of the help I received. My fiancee was finally able to get the White book for me, and I received it last week. It took some doing, and I was a little perturbed when FedEx delivered it to my neighbor instead of myself. Hope the information here is of some benefit for anyone else trying to do the same. Thanks. One step down, a gazillion more steps to go!!!!
  19. I need a little more help on the white booklets. I got back to the USA yesterday, and today I talked to my immigration lawfirm who is working my K-1 visa. Long story short, I was not able to get the white booklets while I was in China, and the lawfirm does not want to use American translations of photocopies of her registry information, as they fear there is a chance it will not be approved using a US translation company. Does anyone here know where in Guangzhou that she has to go to get the White Booklets? any addresses? Also, any one know the approximate cost. My fiance was under the impression that it would cost the approximate of 50,000 RMB and therefore, she refused to cooperate on getting the white booklets while I was there, and my ability to communicate the information was somewhat limited.
  20. Thanks for the quick replies, I was having a hard time getting a good answer from my attorney, and I just wanted to make sure I got everything done I needed to while I was there. Will just a photo copy of her birth certificate suffice which can then be translated or does she need several original copies along with translation? I think that I will likely become a regular here on these forums. It looks that I am embarking on a (very) long and not so easy task, but given the love and freindship I am receiving from Juan, I know in the long run, all the hard work and effort will be worth it. Thanks, once again, and of coarse any other helpful hints will be appreciated also
  21. I am going to go to China (for my first time to meet my girlfreind) and I will be trying to get her K-1 Visa process started. The Immigration Lawfirm I am talking with says I need to get a several copies of her "white booklet" which apparently contains both a English and Chinese version of her Birth Certificate information. The problem is, there seems to be a communication break down between myself, her and my immigration lawfirm as to just exactly what that "white booklet" is and where she attains it. To complicate the issue about the white booklet- Birth Certificate, she was born in a small village about a days travel from where she currently lives (Guangzhou) and she wasn't born in a hospital. She is now making the trip to receive a current copy of her birth certificate ( or what ever the proper term for it is. In any case, does any one know here what exactly the "White booklet" is and where she gets it. I am being told : "The white booklet is basically a sealed booklet with a Chinese and English statement of the "meat and potatos" of the original documents. Again, they are obtainable from the Ministry of Justice." and that she will need at least three or 4 copies of it. I will be traveling to China to meet her in person for the first time ( in a week), and I want to make sure that I can obtain these and any thing else I need so that I can initiate her K-1 petition ( or K-3 if we should decide to marry over there, most likely K-1 though) Any help as to further explanation as to what exactly she needs for her birth certificate information , ie White booklet ... would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
