  1. I have a question on the I-134 regarding tax returns and transcripts. I have the previous 3 years of tax transcripts (2005-2007). But I have heard a rumor that GUZ wants the 2008 returns. The problem I have is that I'm employed by a university, and the accounting around here is pretty mysterious. In particular, I get some income from my department which shows up on my W-2, but I also get income from scholarships, fellowships, etc that do not show up on my W-2. I declare these on my taxes (as I am legally obligated to do). However, there really isn't much of a record of that income beyond deposits in my bank account and my 1098-T. Now, I've prepared my tax returns for 2008 (just for this interview), but I'm worried that if my fiancee shows those returns, the VO will be questioning where the numbers come from (since I think this income is pretty non-standard). Would just showing the tax return be fine (since it is fairly consistant with the previous 3 years)? Or do I have to worry about explaining to my fiancee (so she can explain to the VO) how I arrived at my earned income? Or should I request that she doesn't even show the 2008 return unless asked for? And one side question: I assume when they say 125% over the poverty line, they mean about $17,000 (1.25*$14,000, as opposed to (1+1.25)*$14,000)? Thanks for any help.
  2. I was wondering about the GIV-24 question 8. I have an estranged brother who has legally changed his name. I was wondering for the question 8, do I put his new legal name, or his old name (so that we have the same last name). I also am not completely confident where he lives now. I have a PO Box address for him though. Should I put that done for his location? Or should I just write down the province/country he lives in? Thanks for any help. (Sorry if this has been answered before).
  3. Thanks a bunch. I've read posts about tracking, and could never figure out how they did it. I asked DOS and NVC, and they said there was no tracking info. Guess they were wrong. Thanks a bunch. Thanks for the info! What is the number for the DOS call center? Will they not get mad if I call to ask such little questions? The NVC adds a reference number to each package they send. The NVC told WenDylan his package was mailed on Nov 6th, so the reference number looks like this... EXP 06 NOV 2008B EXP = Expedite 06 = day (always 2 numbers) NOV = month (always 3 letters) 2008B = year (always add a "B" at the end for packages to China) Go to the DHL website and click on "Track => Track by Reference" DHL Track by Reference Enter the reference number, click on "Track" and you will see the tracking number at the top and the delivery information. The package will typically sit in customs for a month or more. After a while, the USA DHL website will stop showing accurate information. So, use the tracking number and the China DHL website I posted above instead of the USA website. Steve
  4. (202) 663-1225 press 1 then 0 BTW, how do you generate those DHL tracking numbers? I have yet to see that explained. Thanks. Thanks for the info! What is the number for the DOS call center? Will they not get mad if I call to ask such little questions?
  5. Is a letter of 'evolution of relationship' the same as a letter of 'intent to marry'? I don't remember seeing a requirement for an evolution of relationship from the USC to the consulate. Also, if somebody knows, how early can one send out a 'letter of intent to marry'? Would it be ok to send that out before P3 arrives? Or should I wait on it? Thanks.
