How long will it take to get the interview?
MPH replied to MPH's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
Thanks all, I was told that the affidavit is only valid within a year. How does it count? From the day I signed it or from the day the petition was approved and sent to Guangzhou? -
I filed the petition through the law office in October 2004. The law office told me the whole package was sent to Guangzhou on January 11, 2006. How long will it take for my wife to get the interview? I asked the law office, they told me that some cases took half year, others even a year. Is the process needed that long?

MPH replied to MPH's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
Thanks all. I am illiterate to immigration law. I know a little about the timeline that posted at the forum. Further, I did not file the petition myself but law office file for me. I only know the paperworks was sent to Guangzhou on January 9 or 10. -

Thanks for your immediate response. Does NVC send all the paperworks by express mail or airmail or others? I was told that they wouldn't send by express. It takes about 6 weeks? What is DOS number? I only got GUZ number. Thanks. -
I was informed that the application had been sent to Gunagzhou Consulate. When will it arrive to Guangzhou? Thanks.

Yes, it is written to the court, not addressing to a specific person.

I wanted to use "Your Honor" at first place, but when I search from the net about appeal letter, I just found out "Dear Sir" or "Dear judge". Is "Your Honor" a formal way to write to a judge? Thanks!

Thank you all for providing me with valuable information 155367 You are really getting way too hung up on how you should be referring to a person within the body of the letter. Keep in mind that you're writing this letter to a Government entity, rather than addressing a friend or colleague. Or, a formal letter versus informal. When I write a letter such as the one you are proposing, I can envision writing it in it's entirety without the need to address a Consular, Consulate, Jane, Dick, John, or Mary. The reason for this is that you are presenting information to a larger group, a beauracracy. Use phrases like 1. "during my last meeting I was told that I failed to provide sufficient evidence of regular telephone calls between" 2. "The purpose of this letter is to..... 3. "The following is a listing of the dates, times, and people that bear witness to my relationship and telephone calls." I can see that you are a little stuck and attempting to work your way through it. Composing such a letter can be frustrating, even for someone that does it everyday. So, again, consider posting it here for us to help, or send it to one of us in a personal message.... Jesse 155369 Thanks a lot! I already finished the letter. I did not want to make any mistakes in this important letter, that's why I tried my best to make everything clear before writing. Thanks for your concern and opinions.
