1. wa wa wa - that will mondo suck. Steam Bath Bad! Wuhan Hot !

Wait a mo, I swear I wrote up something about Wuhan Cold! Snow Bad!! grrrr.. Ok - i'll be in Chengdu in June, so i can figure it out. I just hope these f'in aftershocks stop soon, her family is getting worried.

Ken - ya - we differ a bit in 'what to look for' -

I want a larger city where I can get some internet access and expat food (on occasion), without the huge f'ing sprawl of BeiJing.

So I'm looking at Chengdu, Wuhan and Guangzhou. Guangzhou weather is dead similar to Houston, and I've lived there before - so I wanna try Wuhan or Chengdu.

Well Darnell the advantage to living in Wuhan is that you don't have to go to the steam baths in the summer because Wuhan IS a steam bath... :D

Chengdu has much better weather... :D

Anybody have any experience in Shenzhen?

  2. hi,

i just came back from China. And i see on the USCIS site, after almost 9 months waiting for an NOA2,now they decide they want more evidence, they said they mailed 5/13 a letter what they will need.I am going to call them tomorrow, but i was wondering, what do they generally ask for in these "RFE" requests.? I know it can probably be a thousand things, but..the curiousity is killing me,what they want.

    jimi

Jimi, things happen, you will worry yourself sick trying to figure out the GUZ mindset that is pervasive, be patient and prepare yourself to fully answer the RFE...

    good luck

  3. My wife stayed there during her first interview, then we stayed together there for overcome, Lee is 100% correct!!!

there are just too many hotels in GZ. dont stick to some only one. anyone need information i'd happy to assisit. I'm working and living in GZ. Most of the chinese immig agencies, consultants in the Tian Yu Building are not worthy trying...believe it or not. they do whatever to make money and have no clue of customer service at all.

    Alexi,

Both Mr Yang and Mr Xie, who are listed on this board, have proved themselves time and again to be very honorable, knowledgeable and helpful people to those traveling to GZ for their visa interview.

I realize there are many around the consulate that the same can not be said, my wife and I have personally met and seen both in action helping those in need of extra assistance with their visa or overcome, I can state that these men are the GOOD GUYS. There are a large number of members at CFL who would say the same.

If my sister were needing to go to GZ for a visa interview I would insist that she stay with either Mr. Yang or Mr. Xie. They charge for rooms, not visa assistance which has always been given out of the kindness of their hearts.

  4. it happened to me.... had to do a letter explaining the evolution of our relationship, video of us talking and a couple of other minor things... of course this meant taking an unscheduled trip there... the upside being I got to be with her again....

you are doing all the right things.... read my recent post

    best wishes....

    Hank

  5. To all my friends on CFL... that means everyone, even those that don't know me... After a long and protacted process, my wife and step-daughter arrived here on 8-16-06.

One of these days I will get around to detailing some of the issues we had to overcome during the ordeal that the USG heaped upon us....

As for those in the process, let me say this.... dot all the i's, cross all the t's and provide all they ask for.. and something I would recommend to all, do a 5 minute minimum video (dvd is acceptable) of you and your SO in a conversation... this could save you time and money...

    more another time...

    best wishes to all!!!

    Hank

  6. The CR-2 is basically the same as the CR-1, only the Beneficary is the child.  You have to provide the same information.  It all starts with the I-130.... follow the directions....

    Good luck

I'm not speaking of the obvious, I can see the G325a for myself, but it is my understanding he wouldn't need one, but what about, would there be a need to show my divorce papers and such? I wouldn't think there is much for his application. Follow the intructions??... isn't really an answer, the instructions don't really deal with my question, that's why I posted this question.

    230527

well it seems you have the answer.... funny, I followed the instructions and it answered all my questions.... The CR-1 and Cr-2 all begin with the I-130 applications for each, the process is cumbersome as you have to provide duplicate information. It was the requirements when I filed back in April of 2005... maybe things changed.

    good luck

  7. The blue slips are typically a result of the V. O. grasping at straws and usually finding them, the greatest majority usually passes with the overcome being presented. It all goes back to being prepared. I would encourage everyone to do a minimum 5 minute video of speaking to each other in the language in which you communicate.... it literally speaks volumns..... however, don't forget to provide the usually requested items.... and some!!!

    good luck

  8. I don't want to get started on my own misfortunes, but it all shakes out in the end, jump through the hoops, gather your cheetos, get as comfortable as possible.... ( ) and learn that NVC, DHS, & DOS have an inexplicable system and timeline, your individual case is one of thousands, hang in there.....

    good luck!!!

  9. Thanks to all for the comments, suggestions, and support.... that is why I really love this site...

I received many PM's, and my appreciation is with you all........

As MLK said, "we shall overcome"

Hank, it's good to hear from you, though you don't post as often these days. Always remember to not complicate your communication. Shorter is usually better, but make sure you read, and re-read what you write. Say what you mean, and mean what you say. Open with your point, and close with it also....

fortunately, the dudes on this site allowed us to edit our posts up to three hours.....

...take the time to edit communication you write to the government...

    223965

    always the scholar!!!

thanks Jesse, but I did a 5 pager, and feel I made my point.....

  10. I am sorry to rub salt in an open wound but... looking back, what do you think you should have done to prevent that original blue slip that has caused all of this trouble?

My fiancee is also in the CCP (she just joined last year in hopes of a promotion at work, but now we're kicking ourselves), and our interview is a few months away... I've read hundreds of posts on this site about what to do, but there seems to be no sure path to a visa.

Good luck, and jia you, I think we're right behind you.

    223529

you best have her resign immediately.... document it fully...

    good luck!
