  1. I don't think its weird to want to challenge your intelligence by pursuing a law degree. Very noble pursuit for personal growth. As for not representing an individual who "you know" to be guilty, one of the first things you learn as a lawyer is never ask the client if he/she in fact did what he/she is charged with. If you are told they did the criminal act, you can't go to trial and allow them to use some lame story about being not guilty. It is breach of your ethics and subjects you to charges by the legal association of your state. One always tells the client in the beginning not to admit guilt if in fact they intend to go to trial on a theory of not guilty. A lawyer once said to the general public "lawyers are prostitues". I must say I agree with the description. We do what we are asked to do for $$$. Its a great way to prepare you for some other professions in life. Way back when I was in law school, only about 1/3 of the class made it to graduation. Just make sure you pick a good school and not one that just hands out JDs at end of 3 years.

  5. For pkfops or anyone else with knowledge of money exchange... Question is getting Yuan on arrival....For first trip does one go to local bank (( live out in rural area of WA state), and ask them to order some yuan for travel? I am worried about arrival in evening and if I don't carry yuan with me, I have no way to find exchange open to change dollars... Thanks to all for the input about this $$ thing and also travel to Guangzhou from H.K. airport..I think I will try the bus if flight gets in before last one leaves at night.
  6. For Deekdooken... Thanks for tip about getting money exchanged. Problem I have and most others I think is planes arrive from U.S. in evening. Can one exchange $$ for yuan at these hours.?
  7. Hi All. I have never seen this info posted in reading here and VJ. Seems all flights to Hong Kong arrive after last bus has left for Guangzhou city and airport. First, do buses from Hong Kong airport go into Guangzhou or only to Airport? What has been experience of you folks with spending the night after arrival in Hong Kong? Hotels are quite pricey I have noticed. I know I need Yang to pay taxi, bus, etc. Most money changers at airports close in early evening I think. What has been experience of you "world travelers" going over to China. My trip is planned for late April. Thanks to anyone who can lend assistance with above questions. I will start posting time schedules of documents after we marry and file I-130. richard
  8. Sorry to disagree with first post but suggest you purchase your roundtrip tickets from major ciity in east with destination of Hong Kong. When you break up the flight, even though as it is posted, maybe cheaper flight SF to Hong Kong, if you add both flights together (east coast - SF), the price will usually be much higher. Check a couple of online outfits such as Expedia or Travelocity. I used Travelocity in past to Guangzhou and waited until month or 2 before flying. Very good prices. Sign up with them and they will even email you as prices become available on "specials". They also have posting for hotels in Hong Kong. Use the cheaper *** and you will find they are every bit as good as american Holiday Inns, etc. here in US.. I'll bet you get hotel for less than $60. a night. Do it all online and save hassle of purchase on arrival and have your reservation. I have used the service for hotels and also air travel inside China with reservations and payment to Travelocity. http://www.travelocity.com/ best wishes...richard
