1. It has been awhile since I have posted. We are finally back from Penang and the holidays at mu mom's. We are settled in nicely. The wife was a little disappointed that the USA is much more liad back than in the movies. I said not everyone carries guns. How long does it take to get the greencard once she enters the country. We are CR1 and wanted to get an idea how long I should wait until I start making phone call. It has been over 1 month already and we haven't gotten anything. They said at the POE it would be 2-3 weeks. She already has her SSN and card. Any advice? Thanks, Matt
2. I have some extra, since my wife is done with th interview you are more than welcome to have them. Send me a note. I will send you the PIN#'s. Matt
3. When they flipped through my passport, my wife said it didn't seem like she was looking at anything in particular. I have many visa for China and Malaysia in there. I think she opened just because my wife gave it to her right when she walked up to the window. I just wanted the VO to know was outside waiting. I think another thing that helps is y faithfully sending emails to Guangzhou every week. When I would call DOS they could see every email I sent to Guangzhou. I think showing that you are out there waiting and asking questions goes along way.
4. I had the same question before my wife's interview. I made sure to have a new one just in case. They never asked for it, but i think better safe than sorry.
5. Yeah, they asked where the I-134 was in the packet. I mentioned the envelope was sealed and if they had any questions they should contact GZ. Then pulled out the copy they didn't collect at the interview, seems they didn't really want it after all. 169181 Thank you, I understand now. Our port of entry will probally be LAX since we are flying up from Malaysia. I hope that doesn't make a difference if she enters from a different country other than China.
6. Does anyone know if there is any special my wife needs to get from the Chinese side before she is allowed to enter the US? She will have her packet, visa, and x-ray, but is there anything else I am missing that is requied? Thanks!
7. Thank you for all the congrats. I am looking forward to being back in the states for Christmas. My work assignment in Malaysia is just finishing up, and we will be back in CA by mid December.
8. Congratulations. I am glad 2 folks from Hangzhou worked out today.
9. My wife just came back to the hotel from the consulate and she passed. It has been one year and it finally is over. She said it was quick and fast. She had a very nice VO a young chinese american woman, window 25. Wife hands her my passport she quickly flipped though it. Complemented my wife on her English and strong American accent. Wife told her she was an English teacher and that because of spending time with me. Questions: 1. How did you meet? 2. What was he doing there(China)? 3. What did he teach? 4. What kind of school? 5. Is he working in China still? 6. When did he leave China? 7. How long have you been together? 8. When did you get married? 9. Can I see your pictures? (flipped through quickly) Visa is approved. That is it. Thank you to everyone on this website for your help. It has really helped clarify many questions I have had over the past year. Good luck to all those who are still waiting. Matt
10. I should say in the P4 package. I would suggest calling the consulate or emailing them and asking that question. I see your husband is from Hangzhou, so is my wife. We will be there on the same day as you for the interview. It would be nice to talk to someone from CFL. Do you live in Hangzhou now? I lived there 2 1/2 years. I love that place.
11. Congratulations!!! I sure hope my SO has that same disappointment due to a quick and easy interview!! 167362 Great news! I hope my wife has the same disappointment next week.
12. David- Sorry about my wording. One original AOS that was sent in for my CR1 it is me, plus my mom who filled out the co-sponsor form. I have since filled out another AOS, updating my current employment. I just want to make sure that it would be accepted. I prefer not to use my mom as a co-sponsor, and actually can't since I have a new address on my own. Plus my salary now is much higher and more than covers the requirments. I only have one tax year that is below the income requirement, due to living in China as a teacher, to be with my wife. I don't have a notarized copy of the original, just a photo copy. I think they should accept the new one, which is most current with my new employment. And I hope you are correct in saying to explain why my one tax year is low.
13. My wife's interview is early next week and basically I am going crazy from looking at every thing to make sure we have it all. One thing I have a question for is the AOS. When I first applied for the CR1 I was working in China and didn't have very much income so I used my mom as a co-sponsor, because for my domicile in the US I was listed at her address. Since then I have left China and have been working CA since April 4th. I filled out a new AOS with just me, because my salary is quite high now and more than covers the AOS requirement, and I have a new address in CA. I did the change of address and received the notification from the DOS. All my pay stubs and bank etc have the CA address on it. My concern is will it be a problem when they ask at the interview for the AOS and she hands in the new one? I have all the tax records with it, and it is notarized. My wife has a copy of the original AOS with her, but it is only a copy not notarized. I am hoping that they won't ask for the new one or they will accept the new one. I will be in GZ one day before her interview and I guess I could go and have the copy of the old one notarized before the interview, if it is necessary. Can any one comment? Thanks!
14. Thanks for the reminder about the vacinations. Do they do them in the same place a the health check? As far as the fee is concerned, I payed the lower fee a long time ago. Good to know I can pay the difference at the consulate. Are there any other fees I need to know about?
15. I just happened to give DOS a call, like I do every week, but this must be my lucky night. They said interview was scheduled for 11/15. I am still in shock to be honest. I am lucky enough to be working temporarily in Malaysia and my wife is here with me, so I could share the good news with her. Now I am more nervous than before. I have a few questions if anyone can help me. 1. We will fly from Penang to GZ, and do the health check there. How far ahead do we need to go for the health check? Can we get it back in a day or two? 2. I have seen posts about where and how to pay the interview fee, and the increase in the AOS fee. Where do I pay them? 3. I also need to find a post that lists all the things I really need to have for the interview. I have been collecting for a while and need to quicly get organized. I want to thank everyone on this website for all their help. I have been reading posts almost daily and the information has been great. M
