  1. Hello Everyone,

Its N-400 time and I just went to the USCIS office and had my paperwork checked. Everything looks good. I will be filing at the Texas Service Center and was wondering if anyone else has filed N-400 yet. What have your experiences been and what kind of processing times are you seeing?

  2. Hi, Im on the verge of sending some Video's to China. Lynn's Dad is worried that the Foreign Devils :blink:are Starving her to death,or about to eat her. Well I have some DVDs and I would like to send the family one or two. Is it better to send DVD in Pal or just send a VCD or both. For those who are into Chinese Video formats Drop me a PM.

    Thanks Friends. :D

  3. English usually works but really Chinese is preferred. I had Lynn write her address by hand and I got a Chinese friend to Type it in Chinese, I made myself some mailing labels that I stick onto the envelopes. I still do that. It really works well. I also use Global Priority from the Post Office. The only thing to remember is to add Peoples Republic of China in english along with the postal code.

  4. And what do those of us who are self employed write?

    Dear Gz,

My name is John X. I hired John X. He is the best employee we have. He is also the best boss we have. I can guarantee you he will never be fired. Please give his fiancee a visa, as this will make him very happy. If he is happy, I will be happy.

    Signed by John X's boss,

    John X

    :)

John: Thanks for the Friday morning giggles! A perfect way to start the end of the week!

    Hey Man,

I really like that one. My boss is Ling she pay good and the fringe benefits are excellant. The only trouble is that I take my work home with me,and I work 24/7. Just Like the Chinese.

  5. A Letter of employment can be written just like any business letter. The only diference is that you will be getting it notarized, and chain authenticated. That means translated into the native language of your fiance. It has to describe your job title and duties as well as your wages. Obviously the better your position the better your chances of success. Of course a letter that says your a good fella dosent hurt. It needs to be on company letterhead with contact information for your employer.

  6. Hey, good luck.  Sending out the package is pretty nerve-wracking!

    If I can remember...

    1. Why are you sending her passport at all?  The only info I sent for my fiance was the G-325a form.  I guess it doesn't hurt to send extra stuff.  If it's got english, it should be good enough?

    2. I didn't do any hole-punching, but I did send it all in a neatly organized big blue legal folder.  I had about a dozen sections, each tabbed for quick reference, with a table of contents in the front.  Most of the sections were evidence of various forms, probably not necessary.

    3. I attached our pictures to some photo album refill pages I bought and made a nice presentation out of it.  I always wondered if that was a good idea or not...

    4. I clipped the check with my cover letter, statements, the I-129f and the two g-325a's.  It was the first thing they'd find when they opened the package.

Rule number 1. Never send an original passport, send a certified copy. In fact never send the original anything Certified copies will do,and if you need to you can show the originals as backup.

  7. I've already named Jun as my beneficiary on my life insurance policy.  Dental exam is #1 priority when she gets here (sorry honey :P).  The will etc will be done after we're together.

Oh... and if you ask Jun a puppy would be a bad comparison, because dogs are family members too :P  She will be bringing Mily with her.  Luckily she won't need a visa :P  I'm suprised the USCIS doesn't want to do a name check to make sure Mily hasn't violated some puppy visas - or been in the Canine communist party...

Canine Communist Party = Russian CCCP = OH MY GOD <_<

  8. I just think it's a matter of luck for some people, for example, just look at the couples who had filed their I-129F's thru Vermont lately.  Anyway, I'm just praying for that package to get safely to its destination this time, as I was hoping to have a wedding before the end of this year <_< ....

I fully agree with this statement, our I-129F was approved is a short 30 days but it took 6 months to arrive in Guangzhou.

  9. I confirmed with DOS that our P3 was sent on June 21st, as of July 1 we've got  nothing yet!!! I e-mailed the consulate yesterday asking if it was ok to send them a copy of the 3 forms that i got from a friend (I was told by someone who recently received P3 that the forms look the same as the ones made available at the candle site), no answer yet.  I called DOS again today, first they said it could have been sent to our agent (lawyer)????, but my lawyer said  she never receives such forms, the visa specialist also said I can ask the consulate to resend the P3, they should do it at once, as it's just some forms, so I faxed them asking to change mailing address and resend P3.  Has anybody recently had this case, is it ok to send the forms we already got from the candle?  My friend told me the DS230 Part 1 , although expired, was the one they received in P3. Your ideas are much welcomed!!!!  This is something I dreaded will happen.

As I recall from our experience, our first P3 was lost in the mail too. At that time these were sent via regular chinese mail. It was not a problem to get it replaced. But keeping up with your case is essential to a successfull outcome. It kind of pays to be paranoiod, that extra awareness has saved us a lot of lost time. Even then it was no Cake Walk.

    God Bless.

  10. After your wives have a drivers license, I encourage all of you to send them to a driving dynamics class.

The license school taught them how to drive legally.  Which is good enough for 97% of the time.

A driving dynamics class will teach them how to avoid misadventure during the remaining 3% of the time when things go horribly wrong.

Teach your wives how to change a flat tire, where to expect black ice (so sorry, "Afro-American ice"), remind them not to suddenly swerve to avoid a dog or a deer (better to certainly hit the deer, than possibly hit a tree / oncoming car-- moose are a different story), how to jump start a car, change the fuses, get them a AAA card.

But please don't set them loose on the roads with nothing more than a drivers license.

Teaching my wife to drive was a no choice deal since I couldnt locate a driving school. The problem was that we nearly always got into it when she was getting her lessons. She did learn, but we totalled one car in the process. An expensive lesson. But she is a good driver and has her license.

  11. Hello,

I dont have anything special on my mind today, but just thought I would post our best photo. I like to take pictures and Im messing around with html. I admit Ive progressed a lot. To some that may seem elementary but to me its a lot of fun. Anyway,Id like to see photo's of other couples and if any of you have web pages send me your URL in a PM so I can add you to my links page. I also like to study different web layouts to improve my own designs. My latest work can be found at

  12. Ditto I-130 needs to be approved first. But once she gets her green card you can travel freely. Lynn has had hers for several months now. We can go to China but we are waiting till we get the cash. Patience is Rewarding

For Sure. Love And Hang On Tight.

  13. As of April 15,2004 We shall celebrate our first anniversary. Its been an interesting year indeed. I bought Lynn a gold and diamond necklace which she loves dearly. A good topic for consideration would be "Gifts" and what would be appealing to the chinese spouse. Cultural tastes differ and yet some things are universal in their appeal.

Even in China Diamonds are a girls best friend it seems. What ideas do the rest of you have?

    Still Kicking

  14. Really, what we are talking about is "FEAR" Fear that our beloved has used us as the All American Patsy. Some people are cold enough to do that. We played the game and we all ask ourselves "What Was I Thinking" but even so we have to admit that we are insecure or we would not make it a priority to know. We men want to know if we have all been made fools of and if our women have not taken us by the bean bag and we overruled our good sense. If so we have only ourselves to blame. Can they find another guy and dump us? Probably So. Would they get away with it? Maybe. I find it unlikely that if my wife dumped me for another fella that she would be required by law to stay with me. We cannott own another human being, even when we have been the unwitting hero. We cannott enforce morality nor can we legislate loyalty. Whether or not to harm is a decision that is left to the individual concience.

  15. Well, now that its over for us we take for granted the time we spent in Hell. But it has given us strength. The world situation was tense and will continue to be for some time. The great remedy for the hostility between nations is Love. We are pioneers in a new way of thinking. Its not the road most travelled. But its never easy to be engaged in somthing new and different. I recall the idea of the "Hostages Of Peace" (Arthur C. Clarke) in which at any given time a country has a significant prtion of its citizens residing on foreign soil. Thereby making attack by their government more unlikely. At some point it will become evident that war and its advocates are destined to eventual obsolecence. But the road to that place is not so smooth. We are paving that road, for ourselves and others who follow. The road to the future of the world.

  16. I was lucky that Lynn speaks english, and we communicate well enough for the most part. She has a tendency to use some of our less desireable words which promted me to ask where she learned them. She surprised me in saying that she had known a couple of american kids who lived in her

hometown when she was young and the boy had a potty mouth. Its interesting the way an argument can result over a mis-spoken word and how the meaning can be mis-understood. These little obstacles can be frustrating.

We take our language so much for granted at times that we forget what adverse impact a mild expression can have to someone who sees that word or phrase " insgnificant to us" may seem downright isulting to our

    Chinese partner.

Its best to keep in mind that we are from different worlds, and trying to adopt a life style that neither have any experience coping with.

Add to that the fact that neither of us have ever been married before. Oh what big changes. The Undiscovered Country Indeed.

  17. About three weeks ago Lynn recieved her Green Card. It looks a lot like a drivers licence and has a single figngerprint on it. We also recieved a reciept to establish the residence. What was funny is that she recieved the reciept along with a notice that she would get her green card in 3 weeks.

But in the same days mail was an envelope with her green card. In other news Lynn got her drivers licence today and is taking her A.C.T. to enter

college. I will be getting my C.D.L Commercial Drivers Licence in two weeks.

We have been working on several projects at once and it has been hectic.

The more we work on the more we seem to want to work on. I am checking on some Grant programs that Im told may help Lynn get free financial aid to college. If we succeed I will post that information on Candle

so that those who want to may check into the possiblities. Typically we are told that Residents cant get that kind of help. I cant be perfectly sure but as I say If we get it Ill post that data.
