  1. No, the Keiser hospital is not on the Feds' "approved" list, so now that we have the vacc. record we'll take it to an approved civil surgeon where (as I guess) they'll look at the vacc. record, fill out the I-693 Supplemental, then bust out the rubber stamp and an invoice for $25. so we may have the vaccination done in a hospital/clinic which is not in the Federal's approved list so long as get certified at one of those approved civil surgeons afterwards? did it work out for you guys? we called 4 hospitals that under the Feds' list, unfortunately all said our health insurance( BlueCross family plan) doesnt cover on this we need to pay more than 100 bucks in cash for the bloody injections.

  4. is that EAD really necessary since she's got SSN and found a job? Also i'm told technically K-1 holders are allowed to work anyway. not sure also if I can use my marriage name to apply AOS or have to be my passport name (maiden name)? Yes, but the K1 authorization ends after 90 days... If she wants to continue to work past that, she will have to have an EAD... Really? Boston can obtain one the same day? How??? Please share this with me if it is true! I understand K1 authorization ends after 90 days, but what about SSN? thought so long as get SSN you are eligible to work in the country?

  6. BC/BS of Illinois will not let us add my wife untill she has been in the country for 6 months. I have yet to try a small business policy with them.
  7. thanks for everyone's nice wishes. well, my family no way reaches wealthy especially in the area they live (Hangzhou) but their financial condition is relatively good (the middle-class-up in China I would say). my dad's still working as a director of civil engineering and my mum already retired. my parents supported me to study in England for 3 years so they brought all the original bank transfer slips plus lastest 3 months bank statements in the interview. my hubby in behalf of us wrote wedding invitation letters and one letter for the consul which were also present in the interview. the VO asked 4 questions to my sister: 1. are you married? A: Yes 2. will your husband be going to the US too? A: No, he wont. 3. do you own a house or apartment? A: i and my husband have a apartment. 4. do you own a car? A. yes. that was it. He didnt ask any questions to my parents and view their financial documents. my mum has a friend who is much richer than my family but she has been denied B2 visa 3 times for visiting her daughter.(her husband didnt even apply with her for showing strong ties or compelling reasons to come back China after the visit). I believe it really depends on the VOs other than the financial condition. Lele is right, i was told the more simultaneous family applicants the more failure rate. whereas it will be sad if any of them would miss my wedding so I requested them to take the 'risk'. Mari, I'm sorry but I would suggest you dont apply B2 while waiting for K1. I tried once when i was waiting for my K1 but denied. though the VO was very friendly and briefly asked the purpose of my visit, but ended up with rejection---'i'm terribly sorry i just cant issue the visa to you. i understand your situation but based on our rule, you're not allowed to apply B2 which is a non-immigration visa while waiting for K1 which recognized as an intending immigration visa.'
  8. my sister rang me up yesterday with a great news that all my parents and her obtained US B2 visiting visas so that they can attend my wedding reception which held in next month at Chicago. I was not terribly nervous at the visa issuance for my parents, but i did worry that my sister would likely be denied since she's young. wondering is US relaxing the restrictions for issuing B2 visas to Chinese? As far as I understand it was kinda difficult to be issued. anyhow, it's a cheerful news for people who would like their folks to attend weddings which held in the States.
  9. I got the white slip. sorry I dont post often here especially since I'm just new to the country and life has been busy. Also I am hectic of the coming wedding held in next month. I am however appreciated so much for people over here giving and sharing useful information. Credit particularly goes to the website builders who have been contributing this forums --it's been very helpful. thanks lots indeed. the interview went pretty well. I recall that was like a lovely chat. at the end of the interview, the VO said to me 'welcome to the States. enjoy your new life with your fiance and good luck' was impressive. I think at large most of the VOs are friendly and nice.
  10. The one Phil mentioned (the black(actually is dark blue) passport) is a HK/Macau special passport for people who have Guangdong/Beijing/Shanghai ID or Hukou). Rosey
  11. I note that your SO is from Guangxi, she therefore can not freely travel to Macau or Hongkong unless she's gonna take a flight in Macau airport-meaning she's allowed to stay over there for 7 days with K1 visa and a flight ticket/reservation paper which states it takes off at the airport within the 7 days time frame . HK and Macau both returned to the mainland since 1997 and 1999. almost all stores/shops there now accept RMB and there are plenty of currency exchange bureaus in the main streets, pretty handy. hope that helps. 12. honestly, your pinyin is actually pretty good as an American.(I've seen some of your posts) you sound have known China very well not only the language, culture and geography but things we Chinese even haven't known, ah...curiously, how have you been learning the language, any tips? does your SO help a bit/a little/a lot? I'd love to help on improving my darling's Chinese so he could communicate with my family better.(he does speak some though), Just dont know how. Rosey
  13. So here in Hangzhou (a medium size city)were no problems at all to get letters/mails from any countries to me with address in english. yep, as LouRose and beijingjenny said, when I had them, there were always lines in Chinese that translated by post office staff. Never got lost anything value sent via DHL and sometimes with Fedex. P.S.: I feel rather weird that clerks in post office who cant read PINYIN. (sorry but your spelling was wrong---not pinyon) Rosey
