  1. Actually, reading this and the responses makes me feel a whole lot better about this whole process. Thanks.
  2. Okay, let me rephrase this question. How do I explain this to my fiance, to disregard the instructions on the form? After all, the form makes threats if they are not followed, and while I am an American, and feel quite free to argue with bureacrats, she is not, and having heard all these horror stories, she is concerned ( and so then I am). In a certain sense, since she works, we will not be able to return the forms until next week, as it asks questions to which she does not know the answers (parents birth info, so must go to where they live to find out). Another example, how to deal with where she has lived for the past ten years, when she will not be able to get a police certificate for each location, as the requirement for each location makes no sense to any official she has talked with. This is similar to me talking to my bank, they refuse to provide me the letter as stated on the affidavit of support. Since this is only one of many possible ways of showing support, I am not concerned as I will provide other evidence. But the places lived question versus getting a police certificate, is a question I am not able to answer. Thanks again for your input.
  3. Okay, looks like things are speeding up, and a nice surprise for me to be in China as well. The P3 forms have arrived today, Nov 11. As you can see by my sig line, the papers left NVC Oct 4th to Guangzhou. Basically one month and a week. I hope others are getting theirs as well. My question is, now that I am sitting down to seriously read the instructions, I see it says to send the form 230 now, and to send the signed K1 Instrucion Packet check list after obtaining things like birth certificate and police certificate. My fiance says to follow these instructions, send form 230 now, and check list after. I of course go on the assumption that getting these forms will be simple, and so we should send it all now. Opinions on this please, pro and con. Thank you.
  4. I feel outrage at the level of the unprofessional conduct I hear about coming out of the consulate in Guangzhou. They pass out blue slips because they run out of time to deal with their work, when they determine the schedule. Incompetent. If the person being interviewed has cultural differences that are well known (you are in a foreign country, or did you forget), don't take it into account, rely on your "gut feeling" instead and don't look at the paperwork that you demanded they bring that would answer your "gut feeling". Incompetent. Don't believe the interviewee can communicate with their SO, because you don't know how to communicate. Everyone is different, but you expect an American like you. Incompetent. Demand production of video tape in a format not used by the country of origin. Incompetent. No proper oversight of the consulate workers who abuse their positions. Incompetent. Next I will hear that instead of using a "gut feeling", that psychics will be brought in to make decisions. My outrage only grows. I apologize for this outburst.
  5. Please keep us informed as to how it goes. My fiancee and I have discussed this, and I think I have convinced her we want to minimize potential difficulties in light of the bad stories we read about. However, for myself I keep in mind if we should find ourselves in the same situation, after reading the following, is to be sure you have all the answers. 9 FAM 41.81 N6.6 Additional Factors That May Raise Questions in K-1 Cases (TL:VISA-581; 09-03-2003) a. There are several possible discrepancies between the facts stated on the petition and the actual circumstances of the K-1 beneficiary which might lead the consular officer to question whether the relationship is bona fide or which might cause the petitioner to choose not to go forward with the marriage. These include having one or more children not named in the petition, or a prior undisclosed marriage (even if it has been annulled or ended by divorce or death), or, in the case of a fiancée, a current pregnancy.
  6. Here is what happened when I tried calling DHL today. They asked me for the airbill number. I don't have it. Need number, lots of packages left NVC that date. Okay, perhaps you can tell me if these many packages have been delivered? Looking at the many screens (more than 5 screens), most packages delivered five days after being sent. What about the rest? Waiting customs. Any way to tell if the ones waiting customs are documents? No. Need airbill number. Is there another way to get this information specific to ones K1 application arrival at Guangzhou? Does NVC know? How do you know when the P3 is sent out? When it arrives, or does NVC know this too? Thank you.
  7. Thank you for the answers to my question in "Serious question regarding evidence, Really." Which brings me to my next scenario question, has the following ever happened? Fiancé is in the interview. Fiance is waiting outside. Embassy says not enough evidence. Fiancé says have clear evidence of relationship outside, since evidence was denied entry. Will the evidence of a relationship, and all related questions be simply answered by this fact, the fiance is outside? Can one dispense with preparing for ridiculous requirements of video tapes in betamax formats at 20hz, 8-track tapes, the ability to speak in tongues, and other future unreasonable demands?
