  1. Got home and we received our welcome letter with no interview. Griz you are my lucky charm!
  2. Congrats Griz! You have always been a few months ahead of me so I watch your posts closely. we're hoping to get similar good news soon! 02/01/11 - Submit I-751 for removal of conditions 02/10/11 - Receive acknowledgement 02/28/11 - Received ASC Appointment Letter for Biometrics 03/24/11 - Biometrics Appointment 03/23/11 - Biometrics done (walked in a day early!)
  3. You have to take your interview in California...
  4. Quick question or 2 - wasn't it a requirement to surrender the CA ID card when they issued a CA DL? Also - did she have to surrender her Chinese DL? I notice that Hawaii wants both - as China was a signator on the 1949 UN Driving Pact. Mike I told my wife not to tell them she had a Chinese driver's licence because they will ask for it. There is no difference in testing whether you have the foriegn licence or not. So in my opinion it's none of there business. It's a foriegn government document. She needs it in China to drive when she visits. So hush hush.
  5. Well done, congratulations. Sounds like a typical interview. Time to rest for a bit and enjoy each other.
  6. We just used this site a couple of times. The wife says it's great. http://www.cmcall.com/default_old.php 1350 Minutes for $18. Only restriction is that it expires in 180 days.
  7. Anybody have a Chinese translation of the Declaration and Constitution? I had a heck of a time explaining the context to my family this past 4th of July! And God Bless America!
  8. My wife hits the free samples at Costco. I saw her approach a table with real blue cheese and just waited... she turned blue like the cheese! I'm so baaaad!
  9. Excellent, congratulations. One less interview - she must be thrilled. Enjoy the next two years - no worries.
  10. Apply. My wife didn't think she needed it too. It was included so we got it. I wrote a simple letter stating that a family member was in poor health and my wife wanted to be able to visit if an emergency arrose. No dates required. We got it easily. It also comes first, so it is a nice check to see how the system's oiled. Sadly four days before her AOS interview her grandmother passed away. She couldn't go. Any sooner and it would have been nice to know we had the AP.
  11. Just a short note in rememberance of those tragically killed one year ago today. My wife and I were on line talking when it happened last year. This year we are together. So much to be thankful for today.
  12. Good for you guys and congratulations again. These stories were very helpful as I went through. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Best of luck and try to enjoy your time together. It looks all so familiar
  14. Well, this is what we did Jim. Three weeks after her arrival, we went to apply for her Social Security number. We were married shortly afterword. Add her to your bank account or open a joint one then. After we married we began the AOS process. This is where I started Jim http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27124 I followed it exactly and we just finished this step without a hitch. After some notices and an appointment to get fingerprinted (biometrics) the EAD card comes in the mail first. This is her work authorization. It's enough identification with the Social Security number to apply for a driver's licence. If she's so inclined it's a good distraction learning while she's waiting. Look into the local community college and library for free English classes as well. The whole process is a bear, but well worth the effort. Good luck. You'll get loads of help here.
