Semi-Blue, Overcome

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

xiaomin mailed in her original document [single certificate] to replace that copy that she had, as they requested before they would issue her Visa to her, but we're wondering how they're going to notify her that they've issued it?

She thought they kept her Passport, but they didn't. Won't she have to take it back in? Will they call her? Send her a snail mail notice, or what?

If we wait a reasonable amount of time [3 or 4 days] and don't hear anything, who can she call, or go see to find out where her Visa is?

Thanks as always for any advice or information,

Jerry & xiaomin

We tried calling the consulate service center and they were useless.

Try calling DOS ( 8:30-5 est )

202-663-1225 ( dial #1, #0 to get an operator )

They have access to your case file.

Best of luck,

Ning and Jim...

Ohhh, that might work, they were helpful [and polite] when I was calling so much about her Interview date! Thanks :-)

We received the Blue(s) too. It took them 1 month to process our ( mountain of ) evidence. I hope yours will go quicker.

Have patience, I am sure it is well worth the wait..

Ning and Jim...

Thanks, we hope it goes quick too, which it should, they actually approved her Visa and just needed that one original document before they would release it. Yes, it will be worth it.

Once it's all approved, she'll receive a 'call in letter' via postal mail or EMS, to come to GUZ with her passport.

The call in letter will not be 'date specific' - i.e. - 'come on August 11th', but will have a range of 'days of the week' with hour ranges.

You'll know more about 'stuff' by calling DOS - ask about:

1. did they receive the mailing

2. was the visa approved

3. when was the 'call in letter' sent out.

Call em twice a week, as 'this stuff' ain't instant.

start with 1, stick with 1, then when you have answer for 1, shift to 2, reroll till 2 has an answer, then move on to 3.

A search here on '+call +letter' should give you some recent 'real world' instances.

Good Luck.

Excellent advice and information. I'll give them a couple of days to get her mailing and start calling -- Thank you ;-)

Our call-in letter said "come on Monday - Wednesday from 2-3PM.

You can assign a proxy to do this for you but that seemed like a pain in the ... well you know!!!

Good luck,

Ning and Jim...

I just called DOS... The only status that they have is "Administrating Processing" but they know about the "Original Unmarried Certificate" so we know that's all that's holding us up.

xiaomin doesn't recall anyone asking her for a local [GUZ] address where she's staying. When they send out the Call-In Letter, the only address they have is her home address, 1,000 clicks away in Yibin, where she isn't going back to... What to do?

They will send the letter to the address that you specified on your original visa application for mailing stuff. I sense a "road trip" coming up for your xiaomin...

I have no idea if you can change the address at this late date, but I imagine it would not hurt to ask.

I wonder if they hire a specialist to think of ways to inconvience law-abiding citizens???

Hope everything works you for you both,

Ning and Jim...

She'll just have her brother mail it back to her! Don't most benificiaries stay in GUZ until they get their Visa? I'm sure most don't actually live in GUZ. How bizarre.

Yes, they do have specialists that sit around all day and try to figure out how to make things more difficult and confusing. But the retired Marine Corps Generals need something to do, don't they? LOL

Jerry, you need to quickly get her address changed. It's called a call in letter. Maybe she will luck out and someone from the consulate will call her phone number....after they get the letter back from the wrong address.

The beneficiaries that stay in Guangzhou for their passport and visa actually got pink slips. Not trying to be the bearer of bad news, and I know you're having a problem saying the words "blue slip" but that is what AP after the interview is...BA-LOU

Good luck to you guys. :)

LOL ... I know! But when the VO said "I'm going to approve your Visa, and it will be released when we get that original document, then it doesn't feel like a BA-LOU! [shhhh]

xiaomin emailed her address to them last night [CA time!] and I have a Fax ready to send as late in my day as possible so it gets there as close to their opening hour as it can.

That's about the best we can do. They do have two phone numbers for her but her call-in letter won't be returned, it will be delivered to her brother who will send it right back to her! Uggggg.... I want the General's name that's responsible for this!

Jerry, no one knows how quickly this can be resolved it could be days it could be months, GUZ marches to their own band.

Get daily faxes off to GUZ and calls to DOS , explain she is sitting there and give them her cell #.

I dont know how long your fiancee can sit there waiting, but my guess is if you have not heard anything 2 weeks post interview better she go home and wait.

Good luck mate and I hope its a speedy one.

ps Tsaps that was funny
