I declared this as $400 though... we must have just got lucky  

 

 

I sent my fiancee an Ipod last year for her birthday. I also declared it was worth $400. She was visiting friends in Guangzhou, so I sent it to her friends' address. They wouldn't deliver it to the address, instead she received a note saying it was being held in customs and a duty fee was due. She had to pay a $50 duty fee in order to claim the box.

 

I guess it is hit or miss with these things. Anyway she enjoys the IPOD.

My SO received my package with the cell phone without having to pay anything. Maybe because of the low values on the form ($20 for the phone).
