I'm seeing a lot of mentions about the event, but not much yet about the upcoming celebration on July 1. This is from China Pictorial.

Two years after the 2019 revolutionary film The Bugle from Gutian, actor Wang Renjun will again play Mao Zedong -- the founding father of People’s Republic of China -- in the upcoming epic 1921.

Set in the title year when the Communist Party of China was founded, the crew of the film, which is scheduled to open on July 1, held a news conference in Peking University on May 13.

As an attempt to seek a breakthrough, the patriotic tale creatively blends multiple perspectives such as from Japanese and Europe and espionage elements to retell the historical moments of the Communist Party of China’s first national congress in summer 1921.

Located on the borders of Anhui, Hubei and Henan provinces, the Dabie Mountains stretch about 380 kilometers from east to west. The mountains once served as a base of the Communist Party of China to carry out revolutionary activities from the 1920s to the '40s.
The Red Complex of Dabie Mountains, an exhibition at the National Academy of Painting's gallery until June 23, shows dozens of paintings to remember revolutionary martyrs and uphold the "Spirit of Dabie Mountains".
One of the exhibitions the National Academy of Painting has mounted to mark CPC's centennial, the show displays works inspired by a weeklong trip in October last year. Artists traveled to Luoshan county, Henan province, to visit the relic sites of CPC armies fighting for national independence and liberation in an effort to gather more stories about them.

China's Mystery Demystified: CPC in 100 Years – Why did the Red Army make weaving straw sandals a required skill for soldiers? (Part 1)
In 1921, the Communist Party of China (CPC) was born. However, the CPC found itself in a confrontation with the Kuomintang (KMT), who wanted to rule China but represented very different interests. A civil war started between the two sides that went on for many years. In 1934, encircled by the KMT forces, the CPC and its Red Army decided to retreat to their revolutionary base in Yan'an, in northwest China. This was the Long March. To know the following story, please stay tuned for the next episode of "CPC in 100 Years." #CPCin100Years #CPC100

The day China entered the nuclear age
Fifty years ago, the world woke up to news the nation - then at odds with Moscow and Washington - had detonated its own atomic bomb

China followed up with its first hydrogen bomb test in 1967 and launched its first satellite in 1970 - dubbed the "two bombs and one satellite campaign" by Mao Zedong .
"The nuclear weapons project was launched when China was entering the most difficult period, but … it helped China win a strategic position and [bargaining power] in the international community in the 1960s," Xu Guangyu , a retired PLA major general, said.

Chiang asked U.S. to support attack

Chiang Kai-shek, then the president of the Republic of China, planned a preemptive strike on the mainland's nuclear facilities in 1964, fearing an attack from Beijing a week after the Communists under Mao Zedong successfully carried out a nuclear test, newly declassified US official documents show.
Chiang sought support for the plan from US president Lyndon Johnson but was convinced by Washington to give up the idea. Chiang and his Nationalist forces fled the mainland to Taiwan following their defeat by Mao in 1949. According to US documents, Chiang met senior American officials shortly after the mainland conducted its first nuclear test on October 16, 1964.
According to the documents, Chiang on October 24 told a top CIA official stationed in Taiwan the "primary [Chinese Communist] aim was to destroy" him and the government of the Republic of China (ROC) and "when this happened all of Asia would be threatened".

China again praises a Tiananmen Square student protest.

When people refer to the May Fourth Movement, they don't simply mean the events that took place on that day, but rather a broader ideological change that saw the political awakening of China's young intellectuals. Only by expanding our vision can we understand its impact on modern China and the key role it played in the founding of the CPC. #CPCin100Years

Chinese people have seen tremendous advances in their lives under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Han Wenxiu, an official with the Central Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs, said on Monday.
After more than 70 years of hard work since the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the country's per capita national income so far exceeds 10,000 U.S. dollars, Han said at a press conference held to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.
The average life expectancy of the Chinese people has increased to 77.3 years, up from just 35 years when the PRC was founded, and the average number of years spent in education for people aged 15 and above has increased to 9.9.
The country's infant mortality rate has dropped to 5.6 per 1,000, compared with 200 per 1,000 about 70 years ago, said Han.

Since the beginning of reform and opening-up, China has lifted approximately 770 million impoverished rural citizens out of poverty, accounting for more than 70 percent of the world's total, according to Han.  #CPC100thAnniversary
