Forgive the topic title - a hit and run driver ran over his own wife and child without realizing - in the SCMP

 

Chinese drink-driving suspect accused of fleeing scene without realising his son had been killed

Minibus driver tells police he did not realise wife and son had been involved in alleged hit-and-run incident

 

 

The driver fled the scene after the accident, leaving the mother and son lying on the ground until a passer-by came across them about 11pm and called the police and ambulance, according to local news portal Zbnews.net.

The boy died in hospital despite attempts to save him.

 

 

 

Apparently, the minivan was in the wife's name - so the police reached her cell phone at the hospital when they tried to call the owner.

I am told by the wife's relatives, one of whom works for the PSB, that drunk driving now is really being clamped down on. About time. When I was there on one trip, even a taxi ride was taking your life on a gamble. One driver had an open bottle right there on the dashboard. We were well on the way before I discovered it.
