GIS
My wife and I and our 2 kids are thinking MAYBE of going back to China for Chinese New Year. Our oldest son’s passport expires 28 FEB 2018. He already has a valid Chinese 10 year Visa. New year is on the 15th so we’d be back before it expires. However, does anyone think we could encounter an issue with China immigration being that we’d cut it so close to the expiration date?

See https://www.worldtravelguide.net/guides/asia/china/passport-visa/ and https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages/China.html- Dept of State, but less definitive about your situation
GIS
Ok. Thanks. It seems pretty clear. Need 6 months. I was thinking before the 6 months was just for applying for a Chinese Visa.
dnoblett
Apply for a new passport, and when traveling carry both, the new one and the old one for the visa.
