Seeking Suggestions - K-1 or CR-1 route?

Recommended Posts

Hello All.

Great to find such an amazing resource to muddle through an incredibly daunting and complex process. I am only getting started and already getting quite discouraged at the length of time required before I can be with my Chinese love and the shear mountain of paperwork and documentation required, as well as the uncertain, conditional nature of spousal visas. So please bear with me, as I continue muddling through this process, thankfully stumbling onto this wonderful site for advice and guidance.

I have browsed through many posts and decided to create a new post, in order to be completely current on any recent changes / developments, as well as give my specific circumstances. I am single, male, never married (so no children). My Chinese bride-to-be is 30, has been married once and also has no children. Her divorce is final and she has verifiable paperwork. We met online in May 2017 and enjoyed to a 10-day visit October 2017, where I flew to visit her in Kunming. By the end of the trip, we got engaged and are now trying to decide what is the quickest and most reliable route to take for immigrating her to America. However, as we have fumbled through the process, I am growing more convinced that I might have to leave the U.S. and immigrate to China, both for better job opportunities and so that we don't have to wait an entire year or more to be together permanently.

Is that assessment overly pessimistic, or have there been recent success from anyone here in securing a K-1 or other marriage visa option quickly and reliably?

. . . and, once married, you can file an I-130 at the consulate that will bring her to the U.S. in usually 2 to 4 months -

It's good to have these options.
