Shasha7988
Quick question - My parents will be signing as joint sponsors, and I also planned on having a couple letters from friends and family supporting that our relationship is real. As I'm living in China with my husband, do they need to mail these documents to me so I can have the original copies? Do letters of support need to be notarized in the US and then sent here?I noticed on the USCIS website it said they will accept copies but that originals may be requested at any time. Is it better to just have everything mailed here just in case? What was your experience when you filed? Thanks! Link to comment
dnoblett
Your's and your joint sponsor's I-864 needs to be the original signed form, the interviewing officer will want to put them in the file, as for financial documents attached to the I-864 they can be ordinary photo copies. Sworn affidavits from friends should be notarized, if they can. Link to comment

If they wish, for privacy's sake, they may be able to make arrangements to have the originals sent directly to the consulate, but this is VERY unusual. Link to comment
