Corey&Xu
Hi All,We are flying into Houston Texas next month to visit some family in Brenham northwest of Houston. I am hoping to get some guidance from you all as far as a really good Chinese restaurant to go to in Houston. I looked online and there are lots of Chinese restaurants but I am unsure of which ones would be truly authentic. My lovely wife is originally from Jilin in the northeast part of China. I think different provinces have different foods...... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Link to comment
Randy W
Anything along Bellaire Blvd, near the West Beltway (the new Chinatown). I haven't been there in a few years, so I can't recommend specific restaurants. I remember good restaurants at the Dun Huang Mall (inside the Beltway 8) and at the Hong Kong Mall, outside the Beltway 8, among others. Link to comment
Doug
Geez, I know how to get to them but can't tell you names. The was one further from the hotel good with northern & so was the supermarket old & crowded, BUT I personally liked a couple of them right behind the Hilton Garden Inn. It is a strip leading up to the grocery store Randy's wife worked in. One is a hot pot place and net door was even better. Just ask around once there. Also that good one cooked food not on the menu if you asked. I just stayed at the hotel and walked to eat for 2-3 days. Good living but the Hilton's toilets barely flush. Link to comment

Randy W
This was the original resurrection of that picture - On the Twig I think the picture was originally posted in 2008. And was he wearin' his famous BLACK SOCKS as he sat in his underwear typin' this cosmic question?I'd post the intriguing photo of dOuGgIe wearin' his black socks to a CFL gatherin' if I knew how to find it in the archives. tsap seui You gottta love a guy who doesn't need to be invited or anything - he was just THERE when I took the picture. I didn't know until my sister was telling me that some guy was trying to get my attention. http://i29.tinypic.com/34rirte.jpg Link to comment

Corey&Xu
Great link, thanks Randy. Looks like with all the great restaurants we may need to hit more then one of them on the trip. I also wanted to say seeing the picture you posted just brought me back to when my wife and I first started the visa process. Here we are nine years later and I just can't imagine life without her. I also try to follow all of your posts of living in China as we may spend more time there in the future. Link to comment
