Chinese father builds wooden house for his son as a wedding gift

In this day and age, as more and more modern buildings are being built with reinforced concrete, a man in ‪#‎Shaanxi‬ built a two-story wooden house with his bare hands as a wedding gift for his son.
Zheng Zhongfu is a 54-year-old carpenter living in Huxian County in northwest China’s Shaanxi province. Starting at the age of 17, Zheng began to learn carpentry from his father. Soon enough, he developed an expertise, and he began to think about materials. When he saw the death toll from an earthquake reported on the news, he came up with the idea of building a house using a lighter material: wood.
Zheng began to search for information about wooden house construction online with the help of his son. He started to draft the wooden house in 2012. After four years of modifications and improvements to the design, Zheng began to build the house this year.
By the end of May, the construction of the two-story, 300-square-meter house will be completely finished. Since Zheng’s younger son is about to get married in October, he plans to make the house a wedding gift. His daughter-in-law is very excited to move in.
However, some architectural experts do express doubts about the functionality of a wooden house. Although wood is better when it comes to insulation, environmental concerns and soundproofing, it is also flammable, shakable, and easily deformed.
