Walking across China

in the Shanghaiist

It doesn't say how long they plan to take, although 1162 hours/24 hrs/day is 48 days plus time for other activities like sleeping, eating, and resting. They will be traveling from Heilongjiang to Sanya.

According to Google Maps, that's a distance of 5,674 kilometers and 1,162 hours. Hopefully they don't get tired of each other.

Years ago, Peter Jenkins, who wrote "A Walk Across America" published another book describing his own "Walk Across China." As I recall, his book was somewhat negative in its outlook on China, especially the rural areas where people stared at him and followed him around. Don't know if it is still in print. It was written in the early 80s I think.
