Touring to Xi'an

We will be flying out on Nanning R/T. Any of you fellows been to Xi'an? How many days would you recomend on visiting? The do's and don'ts of touring there. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's supposed to be a center for high tech (not apps) research and manufacturing; things like advanced materials, etc ....

 

Personally I would love to tour some kind of center involved with that.

I visited Xi'an back in 2005 on a tour, I believe we spent 2 days there.

 

Things we saw:

• Arrival day (Did after flight from Beijing)
  • The Ancient City Wall: An extension of the old Tang Dynasty structure boasting the most complete city wall that survives through Chinese long history.
• Day 2
• Full day trip to the Terracotta Warriors and Horses & the Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
  • Terracotta Warriors and Horses: The greatest archaeological findings of the century: the army of terracotta warriors and the bronze chariots entombed in vast underground vaults at emperor Qin's tomb.
  • The Big Wild Goose Pagoda: built in 652 AD and contains a large volume of Buddhist scriptures which were obtained from India by the eminent monk Xuanzang.
• Day 3 (Half day did before flight to Shanghai)
• Half day trip to the Shaanxi Provincial Museum.
  • The Shaanxi Provincial Museum: The museum which can enlighten you how Xi'an became the cradle of Chinese culture.

Hello Thomas, When are you going to Xian? How long are you planning to stay there? We went there a few years ago. We went tosee the terracotta warriors. It is a fairly large complex. We also rode bicycles on the top of the wall that surrounds the city. That took about 60-90 minutes. We saw the bell tower at night. Some good photo's ops. We also visit the Muslim ( Hui) section of town. Had baozhi, jiaozhi and some buns and breads. We visited the mosque. We enjoyed ourselves. Hope you all have a good trip. Danb
