A Melbourne man who woke from a coma speaking fluent Mandarin has found love on a phenomenally popular Chinese dating show.

Ben McMahon, 24, was involved in a serious car accident , and when he came to after a week-long coma his first words were in the world's most widely-spoken language.

Now he has found love with Sydney lawyer Feng Guo after they both appeared on one of two special edition Australian episodes If You Are The One.

'I thought I'd put myself out there and find out if I was the one,' Mr McMahon told the A.B.C. ahead of the show's airing this Sunday night, on Valentine's Day.
