Immigrate visa for wife

My son is a green card holder. He is going to apply immigrate visa for his wife. Based on the instruction of 1-130 , he needs to send his marriage certificate , I wonder if it's translate by himself or it must be translate officially . Thanks

He could translate it, and then have a friend who is conversant in Chinese and English certify it.

 

Certification is simply making a notation at the bottom that it is a true and accurate translation and, sign, date and provide contact info.

 

Also send only a photocopy, do not send the original marriage certificate

Should be fine, later in the process when NVC requests documents he can gat a white book with translation in China to submit at that time.

After, Boringwaiting's son got visa, came to the USA, got green card, and then returned to China to get married.

 

Now back in the states getting ready to file for her visa as spouse of lawful permanent resident.
