The number of evacuees include those housed at a temporary shelter for residents who had their homes destroyed in the massive blasts three days prior.

This all comes after officials had assured the press that all the fires had been safely controlled and put out in a press conference earlier in the day.

....... Sodium cyanide is a toxic chemical that becomes combustible on contact with water or damp air.

I know this has been repeated throughout the Tianjin coverage, but this is incorrect. The calcium carbide is combustible, true, upon reacting with water.

The cyanide is dangerous in its solid (granular) form - can kill (posion) you quickly. Wet it and it can evolve some HCN which is the gas form (what the Nazis, prison wardens and pest control technicians use). Add acid to the 700 tons of sodium cyanide in Tianjin and you will have 400 tons of cyanide gas which can cover a lot of territory. Thats how the gas chamber works: they mix acid and dry sodium cyanide.

I really want to know where the 700 tons of sodium cyanide from the warehouse went.

Shanghaiist:

China suspends or closes 50 websites for 'spreading rumors' about Tianjin blasts

Some of the more groundless of these included "the blasts killed at least 1,000 people," "shopping malls in Tianjin have been looted" and "there was a leadership change in Tianjin government."

The CAC said that these lies have negative effects on society—much like chemical explosions for example.18 of the websites have had their licenses revoked, while the 32 others have merely been suspended.

Tencent News reports that a male netizen has been sentenced to five days in jail after posting rumors that 1,300 people had been killed in the explosions.
