Got Interview Letter, but "No Appointments Available" on CGI

Recommended Posts

Hi all - finally got the interview letter/email today at 12:01pm for hubby's IR1. (Yay! Took like 3 weeks after submitting DS-260 in Beijing)

Logged on to CGI as directed to schedule our interview in GuangZhou but get this message "There are currently no appointments available."

Granted it's not yet 1:00pm yet, but am I just too antsy here? Has anyone exprienced this? Do I just keep trying again and again?

Thanks!

Yes - there are certain times when new appointment slots are released. If you can catch it soon after one of these, that is when you are most likely to succeed.

They are still working on a backlog from the "Technological Systems Issue", so be patient (and persistent).

My wife also just received her CR-1 Immigrant Visa interview letter for the US Consulate Guangzhou, but when I signed on to CGI to schedule her interview, it is showing “No Appointments Available”.

My question is, because of the available times my company will allow me to take time off from work here in the United States and I will need to apply for a Visa to go back to China again and I will need to book airline tickets, we were hoping to schedule an interview appointment for the 3rd or 4th of August… But, according to the last reply to this topic: There are certain times when new appointment slots are released. If you can catch it soon after one of these, that is when you are most likely to succeed”. Does this mean we would not be able to schedule an interview appointment 7 or 8 weeks in advanced? Are there only a few certain specific dates available when dates become available?

Also an unrelated question please… The interview letter also mentions needing to submit a “DS-160”.

I submitted a Visa application to the USCIS…and then I submitted a Visa application to the NVC…Now I need to submit a DS-160??

Thanks

Standard boilerplate letter, a DS-160 is only for non immigrants B-1 B-2 etc.

You did a DS-230 for an immigrant visa so ignore that thing about D-160, also if you processed through NVC, they will set the interview appointment time for you, the only involvement for CGI website should be designating where to deliver the visa packet after the interview.

Hi Yu and Dan,

Thanks for your reply.

My wife actually already had an interview appointment for July 7th but I could not get off from work for that time so I emailed the US Consulate Guangzhou and they replied back and said that they would send instructions on how to re-schedule the interview and we just received that letter this morning:

"Dear Applicant, Petitioner, or Agent of record:

This office is ready to begin final processing of the immigrant visa applicant(s) named above in this case. Please follow these steps to schedule and prepare for your visa interview:"

And following the instructions the letter provided, I signed on to CGI to it is showing “No Appointments Available”.

Thanks again.
